There have been reports of the brake power backup box failing and continually drawing current.

And all battery measurements with the exception of in line current draw test should be made at the front jump point under the hood.

It only matters what that main front underhood fuse box sees. Owned my G2 14 years don’t think I ever tested the battery voltage directly but once or twice
Testing a new battery But the front jump point saw many battery maintainer charges so I could se3 the battery health. This really paid off never got a dead battery in14 years in mamas car,

The back up battery small metal box is right next to the 12 volt battery. It’s filled with super caps. Requires a ESR meter to properly test the caps.

Also the light in the back hatch area on the side panel is commonly left on too.
Hard to see it in the dark with a light check thru the window,

    Prius Camper,

Here's the best battery for the price: 12 Volt (12V) 55 Amp (55Ah) VRLA AGM Sealed Lead Acid Battery 55 AMPS HIGH CAP | eBay I had a battery like this last 9 years in my Prius. Don't listen to auto part stores that sell batteries worse than this for three times the price.

I am sure that your battery recommendation was in good faith but I should have done my homework. It's not the same battery, bigger, does not fit.

    Crap, crap, crap.

    bisco,

My cut and paste was done badly.

PriusCamper recommended this battery for my car. Unfortunately it does not fit my Prius. It's about a half inch wider and taller.

Once again, I should have done my homework and verified the battery was right. I'm upset but have only myself to blame.

I just bought an OEM battery, at least the one the parts counter guy said my car needed when I gave him my VIN. He did say there were two sizes and I had to get the right one. I thought it was SKS vs. non SKS, but you said you had SKS and I assume PriusCamper does too. I just measured my old battery 5" x 9 1/8" x 7 7/8" high, so the ebay one looks to be just a bit wider at 5.4" and taller at 8.4". Better 55 AmpHours than my OEM which is 45Ah. Here is the battery they gave me below, I charged it with a battery maintainer, but let me know if you think I didn't charge it fully.

It fits fine... I've installed them many times. Just some slight modifications, of which there all multiple options.

"Fits fine, with slight modifications" reminds me of "100% juice, with added ingredients".

Like Jaht has the Dealer battery is best and prices have come down shop around. Dealer probably has the freshest battery too based on sales.

Smaller battery's that fit a G2 are not big sellers at auto parts stores apparently based on how many posts we see here about issues with battery's being low after purchase.

But bring your DVM anyway to the dealer and check it at the counter. Should be at least 12.3 volts. If not ask for another one....
