I have recently been looking into reconditioning a prius battery for my dad where by the cells need charging as they are at different voltages and they need to be fully charged. I have a battery tester to test all voltages of each cell and have checked each one.

I recently purchased some equipment to help me with this journey with help to other threads in the prius chat and I think I now have all the tools necessary to do so.

I have purchased the ICharger 4010Duo alongside an EFuel 1200Watt Power supply and also purchased a pair of 'Voltage equalizer for mixing blades' from projectlithium

The mixing blades wire should allow me to charge a full battery all in one go I believe, however I am stuck in now setting this all up with the correct voltages, cycles of charge/discharge and capacities .etc.

Please could I get some assistance in setting this all up correctly and being able to charge with the correct settings as I don't want to wing it with the charging settings.

I have attached a couple images of the setup below PXL_20220514_194658488.jpg PXL_20220514_194705269.jpg

Any help would be much appreciated, Thank you

    Your wasting your time,

To do it right each module should be load tested to see how it performs under load as that’s how you find a weak cell or cells. One weak module will make the whole pack fail as there all in series.

Once all cells have very close load performance characteristics than you can worry about balancing the pack.

Yep you're correct in saying this equalizer is made for Lithium, however before purchasing I emailed the company and was told it is possible to work on Nimh cells too. On the website they also state " Note: For NiMH pack, you can either use 2 sets of equalizer to cover both side, or use 1 set of equalizer and copper bus bar to connect the other side. ". So all in all it should work with Nimh cells to allow for a full pack rebalance.

I appreciate the response and resources sent. My dad does mechanic jobs for Prius' and the method he used to use was this for single cells and individually rebalancing them by discharge and charging them. Only problem was the amount of time it took with individual cells so when I seen this method of a whole pack it looked promising to quicken up the process.

Yep thats correct we have singled out cells and have taken them out and replaced them. With any cells that are bad they essentially are self discharging so they would not work for a whole battery recondition and rebalance as would knock off the whole process.
