Why are you so angry ?
Pushing a 6 1/2 year old car to 80k plus mileage is quite above “normal” mileage
Especially with lockdown reducing most peoples milage in the last two years by 50% plus.

OP here with a final update.

After intervention from Toyota UK Head Office the repair has been done at no cost under warranty. Credit due where credit is due -I’m very impressed by Toyota’s exceptional customer service here. When things go wrong and they put them right --that’s how lifelong relationships are built with a brand -so thanks to Toyota for resolving this. The car drives fine now and I look forward to many more happy miles. Thanks also to the folk on here who were supportive.

I’ve attached a copy of the job card showing replaced parts. It’s of interest that the upgraded part fitted as a replacement is 17410-37B52. According to the TSB https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2019/MC-10166037-9999.pdf that part has since been changed to 17410-37D40 although that TSB is for the USA market and may not be relevant to the UK. I don’t know -and neither did the technician who was dealing with it.

    I bet th
    Keep an eye on coolant.
If they are doing something on this recall 170171P
what TSB says - T-SB-0135-19 - Exhaust pipe warranty.
my 2016 Prius was repaired by dealer at 46K for Exhaust pipe recall and service record was saying coolant was low.
they did not fix it properly , coolant leak was happening ( I guess) and now at 51K, engine stopped with these codes
P00B111, P011511, P148F00 AND P319000 and they are saying engine has to be replaced as it is overheating.

I know in UK and Europe Regulations are very tight and customer will be protected for sure.
I own 2016 Prius bought new, have only 51K miles, my engine gave up due to coolant related issue 5k after they worked on Exhaust pipe recall.
    current Check engine codes : P00B111, P011511, P148F00 AND P319000
I just started my battle with Toyota USA.
still under Emissions warranty, Hybrid warranty.

Toyota USA customer service washed off their hands.
They are saying these 2 things.
    1. your repair done using TSB is successful otherwise it won't run another 6K
    2. since I do not fall under 6 yr/60K - ( I am at 7th year 51K miles) - Engine replacement is not covered.

Whatever Dealers are saying is final, there is no Corportate Technical department
Toyota Customer Care Center at 800-331-4331 - is there to answer any component is still under warranty or not.

EOD. my 2016 prius died at 51K due to Engine failure (potentially due to P148F recurrence, coolant loss, engine overheat).
I have to pay 10K for Engine replacement.
