Aisin Water Pump Video with Coolant Bleed Instructions

    Here is the video from Aisin, the original equipment manufacturer for the Prius water pump.
    In addition to instructions on changing out the water pump, it shows you how to bleed the coolant system.

    The video's pretty good. It doesn't really mention that you do the engine warmup with the reservoir cap on. If you watch the video really closely, you can see that the cap is on; you get a really short glimpse of it behind his hand at about 3:16. So it's done correctly, but it would be better if he clearly said so, because people are often unsure whether the cap should be on or off for that part.

    Dear Lord. The Dealer wanted $705 for the pump!

    NAPA Don't have one.

    I can wait a week to get the pump, thermostat and
    housing from rockauto.com for $300. Same Aisen part.
    I'm surprised they still even have a viable parts business,
    running markups like that, in an internet age.

    Oh, and just for my own amusement, I inquired about labor? $400 to
    change the pump and service the coolant.
