    what's happening in Australia ?

I thought they had the most concentration camps, restrictions, etc ?

the graphs look like they are now following the same graphs that all the other countries did, just at a later date.

They voted out the lying Murdoch clones. You wouldn’t like it there ..: if they would even let unvaccinated idiots in.

    lol !

while you're waiting on Happiness Booster #26, check out this chart..

you'll probably need your readers to see the USA on the chart, way down there at the bottom, enjoying the benefits of herd immunity.

Aussies place is a lot easier to find at #3.

The first clue is that chart showing the U.S. with no data, because it is so early in the morning that only two timezones have just barely opened for business, while those other countries are already reaching the end of their day.

Try looking at a day where everyone has completed reporting, such as yesterday. North Korea is nipping at our heals in reported new cases, but shows no new deaths. So we are #1 in both new cases and new deaths:

I get a subscription nag too, but still see the whole article. I can't go read the whole paper, but have been regularly able to get the occasional article or so, linked by others, for years, without a subscription.

    What browser are you using?

    meh....

    Vaxed twice.
    Boosted once.
    Infected at least twice.

I have a bunch of at-home tests with questionable accuracy, and so I'm keeping the giveacrap switch in the "don't" position for now.
If I had more co-morbidities it might look differently (another decade on the clock, fifty extra pounds, fewer organs, etc) but for right now, emergency rooms aren't full and we have some fairly good therapeutics.

    MY mileage.
    Yours may vary.

One of the best ways to see how each country is doing with COVID is to look at excess deaths.

There is some delay in reporting, up to a few months in some places, but the general trends hold:

Examples [excess deaths per 100k people]:
    Bulgaria: 1,031 (winner)
    Russia: 841
    Mexico: 515
    Hungary: 463
    Ukraine: 449
    Brazil: 353
    U.S.: 347
    Britain: 225
    Germany: 156
    Denmark: 73
    South Korea: 54
    Japan: 43
    Australia: 14
    Taiwan: -18
    New Zealand: -35

You can take your your early morning reading glasses off now. This afternoon, we have moved way up your "Today" chart to #4. Everyone still above or near us has finished their business day, but we still have hours to go. So we can only move up, not down.

Australia has moved from #3 down to #7.

So, is it the virus or the vaccine reanimating the dead in Taiwan and New Zealand?

LOL. Those negative numbers are "within the noise", as they say. Suspect they are mostly from the small amount of random variation from year to year.

However, public health measures (masks, distancing, etc) probably also decreased other respiratory related deaths there. Not sure how much of that is a factor.

There is at least one guy who does think the vaccine has some properties in the vector you suggest:

our daughter in law mostly recovered from covid after 10 days or so, and her smell and taste are starting to come back.
    she's nursing, so no paxlovid.

unfortunately, her joints started to ache today, and advil hardly touches it.

It is just about End Of Day here on the West Coast, so there is only one more lightly populated (Alaska and Hawaii) timezone to go. And no surprise at all, as the reporting day progressed, the U.S, near the tail end of the time zone calendar, rose from #40 at the early morning before-business-day time when @privilege first claimed we were low, to #4 when I checked in early afternoon here, and finally to #1:

Now it has rolled over to another day. The board is almost blank, so if he hurries to get another screen grab shortly, it will look like the U.S. and most of the planet has exterminated the virus! Just don't look again late tomorrow afternoon to see it surge back.

Nobody pointed that out to me before!

I'm going to do all my errands in the mornings, and stay home in the evenings.
