He did not say how much the cost of all the parts he had to purchase. In my neck of the woods, at least at the time I traded in my 2017 PP to a 2020 PP, it was cheaper to buy a new car than to buy a set of 4 new tires which I needed soon on my 2017 PP then. I have a feeling that he spent more on the parts than 4 new tires cost.

it's interesting how toyota thought people would want a 4 seater. i wish we had the inside scoop on how they arrived at that conclusion

What I read somewhere was that it was not that people wanted the 4 seater, but for the initial introduction of PP, the max load weight with assumption of 5 people would make the efficiency to drop or something like that. I don't know what has been changed between 2019 and 2020 models, but for some reason, it was possible to put 5 people in the post 2020 PP and the efficiency number to be not affected???

It was discussed somewhere early in the introduction of the PP. I will see if I can find it.

i remember reading that, but i thought that was part of a 'we think people want a four seater, but if that isn't the case, we can add a fifth' discussion.

maybe they hoped to save money? idk. unless they were able to sneak the 5 seater past the epa without retesting. hey, same car, nothing to see here.

    I wish I had
I thought about doing this one day with parts from a salvaged Prime, but after owning this Prime for quite some time, I never really have people in the backseat.

Similar to owning a S2000, I use this as an advantage to avoid driving multiple people around. haha

it's funny to read old threads. i especially liked john1701's '4 seats allowed them to put in a larger charger' :p
