Umm, the fabric seems fairly durable. It didn't stain when someone had grease on the seat (which I think was the worse scenario here on PC last year or possibly two years ago).

Isn't it better than you don't slide around? I hate those synthetic leather seats where it feels like you're sitting on sheet ice.

The drivers who think purchasing a vehicle elevates them onto some moral platform above all others.

The "Is smugness really a bad thing" thread makes me want to f**king vomit. It may not be true of all you guys but a select few sure do their share.

I hear this a lot from lots of car owners, and it comes down to them not ever having been told how to adjust thier mirrors.
If you place your head directly over the console, and adjust your right side so that you barely see the rt. rear corner of your car, then place your head against the driver door window glass and adjust the mirror so you barely see the left rear corner of your car, you will find that you have a 360 degree view of your surroundings when in the normal driving position. This will feel kinda wierd at first, but you can easily test and verify the effectiveness next time you are on the road. You will see cars approach in your rv miror, then appear in your sides, then in your periferal vision. After you get used to it, you will find you always know where every car around you is without having to move your head at all. Try it.

I dislike the seat very much. I hate the fact that it is extremely difficult to change the headlight on the driver's side. It took me 40 minutes and a cut knuckle. I'll be taking it to the dealer from now on.

I just can't stand all those big jerks in their SUV's laughing at me. I mean, really, who's laughing last? I work 7 miles from home and I go weeks without filling up.

I'll second that... I barely receive any respect from those big SUVs even though I'm riding on 22s.

A Prius on 22's? How is that even possible? Wouldn't you lose all the benefits?

To answer your question; it takes a lot of custom work. I had to use various suspension components from mid 90s GM vehicles. Following, my fabricator was able to provide custom CNC machined caliper adapters. These were the two biggest hurdles. Cutting up the fenderwells were a bit of a hassle but was definately worth it.

I didn't loose any benefits, actually I picked up some mpg. The wheel shop owner said since the rotational mass is higher then stock it improves mpg. Hey what do I know...

    Hope this helps.

    Actually, you didn't.

Perhaps you have 22s on a Prius (I doubt this seriously), but higher Rotational Mass = Lower MPG. Under CERTAIN conditions, you might could gain something from having four large flywheels hung on your axles, but not nearly as much as you'd lose by same.

So, how are things there in beautiful Crotchville? Also, how's the fly trouble this year?

For those of you who have never been there (like PRINUS), Crotchville is located right in the middle of the lap of luxury.

The wheel shop owner assured me that I would gain MPG when combined with the Timken wheel bearings that were installed. This weekend I'll look carefully at the fuel economy and see. I just had this setup finalized this past Tuesday so I haven't had any true results. Will keep you'll posted.

I think the car would look good with some bigger wheels, maybe not 22's but maybe 17's that are aluminum.

No, just for a good laugh.

I have to agree with the earlier posts about the cloth seats though. They don't agree with me either and I can see the point of not wanting to be able to move, but I think that's why they made seat belts.

Dude, I would have swapped in the underpinnings from a Mustang II!

No offense, but without pictures to substantiate this, it's difficult for me to believe a word you're saying.

So you adapted the stock Prius calipers to...the GM rotors...? Which were attached to the GM spindles, which were attached to GM McPherson struts and suspension arms, which were attached to...The Prius' chassis? A GM front drive system...?

This is making less and less sense to me the more I think about it.

No offense taken PintoGirl! I am working on borrowing a digital camera from a friend to proove it. Until then I can understand your dfficulty in believing me. Additionally, this poster on this thread PriusKahuna wants to meet up w/ me to see my 22s. Maybe he can then vouch for me. PS, PriusKahuna do you have a digital camera?

Most of the work was done by my fabricator so I don't all the details. However I know he used spindles from I believe an old 94 Chevy taxi, he then fabbed up the spindles to be used with airbags. So the car is essentially riding on airbags but stills work with the stock Prius frontend. If your interested in the details I can PM you the fabricator's number. Maybe he can explain it better :)
