It's been over three months since I placed my order, and I just got the following text from my dealer:

"Update on your order: You're #25 in line."

I am not sure what this means. Am I the #25 in line in the US? At the dealer? I am guessing in the US. In any case, this is not nearly as unpleasant and stressful as being the #25 in an obnoxious nightclub line, where they keep letting people in front of you and you decide that you had enough and leave. LOL

It looks like the full $4,502 tax credit will last through the end of September; so, perhaps I'll get my new Prius Prime on time.

We had one or two in our area last week - they were sold immediately with hefty markups (5K-10k above MSRP with additional accessories the dealership wants to clear out off of their parts shelves). LoL

I got a clarification from my dealer:

I am #25 on the dealer's Prius Prime Limited waiting list. The dealer currently has a total number of 11,000+ customers on its waiting list for all Toyota models.

    11K+ on a wait list!!???
how many of them put down a deposit and willing to pay the 10K markup above MSRP? And for an additional $10K; I'll bump you to the front of the line - but you still can't choose the color. Well, if you twist my arm, I'll let you choose the color for an additional $10K. Kudos to you for standing your ground and making me charge you another $10K, to get you the car of your dreams. You see where I'm going??? LoL
Am I getting into Tesla territory yet? LoL

It's just transportation, and better than riding the bus.........LoL

My dealer is the largest Toyota dealer in the world, and they are committed to never charging a dealer markup. That's probably why they currently have more than 11,000 customers on the waiting list. It is pretty crazy though.

I asked my sales guy who sold me my Prime about the chances of any Rav4 Primes coming in and he began laughing. He said not a chance in hell they get one there (and it’s a big dealership) - and the most are in NY & NJ only as far as the east coast goes.

It looks like both the non-plug-in Prius and plug-in Prius Prime are nonexistent in Southern California at the moment. Supply-chain problems and high gasoline prices have killed the hybrid and electric vehicles. I miss the days in very recent past when they used to be a dime a dozen.

Toyota cuts July global production plan by 50,000 vehicles
Semiconductor shortages and COVID-19 parts supply disruptions continue.
    June 22, 2022

Toyota Motor Corp on Wednesday cut its July global production plan by 50,000 vehicles as semiconductor shortages and COVID-19 parts supply disruptions continued to curb output.

The world's largest car maker by volume expects to make 800,000 vehicles next month, it said in a statement.
"As it remains difficult to look ahead due to the shortage of semiconductors and the spread of COVID-19, there is a possibility that the production plan may be lower," the Japanese company said.

Toyota and other car makers continue to struggle with supply-chain disruptions and component shortages caused by the COVID-19 pandemic including those resulting from recent lockdowns in China.

Automakers are also having to compete for limited semiconductor supplies with other manufacturers such as consumer electronics device makers.

Toyota stuck with its annual global production target of 9.7 million vehicles, although the company signaled in May that supply chain disruptions could eventually force it to lower that number.

The automaker on Wednesday also expanded production halts in Japan next month at plants that make vehicles including the GR Yaris subcompact and bZ4X electric crossover.

I just got a text update from Longo Toyota, saying that I am now #26 on the waiting list. What kind of backward wait list is this? What a joke. o_O

I asked about it, and I was told that #2 was empty and I was still #25. Whatever that means.

Yeah I'm on the waitlist with Longo for a hybrid Camry.. expecting minimum 6 month wait.

Longo Toyota is the only Toyota dealership in Southern Cal NOT charging a minimum $5k markup hence the huge waitlists.

Get your credit card ready because they charge a $500 deposit on the spot. The $500 applies to each model you want to reserve. So if you want to get on waitlists for Prius and Camry its $500 each.

Oh, and interestingly enough, the waitlist for the Toyota Sienna is apparently over 1500 buyers. 3 YEAR wait period. Toyota Sienna?

Also, be aware that Longo opens and closes the waitlists depending on how full they get. Apparently they just reopened the Camry waitlist this past July 4th weekend. I got lucky I guess.

yeah finding a Prius Prime is certainly difficult. when I bought our 2021 you'd think they were giving them away with all of the incentives AND still getting the tax credit. Last Fall/Winter with the 2022's was a bit harder to find a Prime, some dealers were charging over MSRP, some would not sell out of state.....
This year though, wow.... its dry bones. My favorite dealer in the Maryland area has one currently, but they want $5000 over MSRP - and a few weeks ago it was $7500. At least they would sell to me, New York, Ohio, Massachusetts dealers all told me "no dice" if I live out of state.... So I continue my wait, hoping to get something before October.
I've thought about the Bz4X too - but those have been seeing crazier markups($10k), plus a recall due to the hubs and battery charging issue(cold weather?). #CanStillDream

With the markups though, almost makes me think about a Tesla more and more. I know those prices have even gone up - but I've not seen them over MSRP. Funny when you see Used Teslas cost more than new ones though :D

CA DMV demands you switch to CA DL as "resident" WITHIN (not after) 10days of entering CA, and I'd imagine other States are same.
Also, VPOTUS Dick Cheney listed his "address" as a hotel in Wyoming but no one ever remembers seeing him, but he was seen all the time in TX. Some claim the hotel address in Wyoming was only to get around the requirement that POTUS and VPOTUS not be from same State. Not sure if an AZ DL will trigger all sorts of taxes from AZ.
