read an interesting article about a billionaire who legitimately owed millions (billions?) in taxes. the irs set up a special task force of their best people to go after him.
he spent a fortune on his legal team to fight them, and stymied them for so long in the courts, they eventually gave up.
when you're rich, it's cheaper to spend on lawyers than it is to be honest.

Gas tax holiday, in concert with states, might be good idea, but it is lip service.
At the Fed level, Repubs will veto because it is Biden's idea.
At the state level (Virginia) opposite case...Repub governor wants it, so the Dems are all against it.
Biden just wants to say he offered a helpful solution that was rejected.

Remember that there are numerous people who appear to be low income, but really aren't low income or poor. And the bulk of them are not using that particular type of "illicit funding".

Was that before, or while, he was POTUS?

Instead we should suspend Medicaid payments and entitlement programs and handouts and free healthcare to indigents and required that they show up and do work while they get payments and train them to do a job that needs to be filled which a department and labor can define where they are needed and then at 6 months cut off all payments and make them get a job

The cut off is already 5 years and you gotta pay it back.

Those getting the things you describe are mostly children and the disabled.

Im not gonna say a vegetable in a chair can’t work, but it might cost more to enable them to do so than to pay a poverty rate for them to survive.

And I as a 12 year old + did work year round, I’m not saying it’s a bad thing but I don’t think you will get the positive effects you think putting kids back into the workforce.

As towards the elderly which I think you are alluding to back in 1930 all the old men could be boxcar Willy begging for handouts roaming the countryside, but from what I can tell people like yourself don’t like the 250,000 people crapping on the street already, add 35,000,000 elderly people in poverty to the street and I’m guessing even you wouldn’t like it.

Allowing the elderly to just die without medical treatment would also be a problem.

Many poor elderly people do work jobs no one else wants but their wages are below the amount that would pay for housing, my mom is in the category, 75 and still works full time teaching but do to being a “at will contractor” would not be able to pay basics off that wage, especially in summer months.

If things were simple we wouldn’t be in the mess we are.

mourning real problem resides with all the handouts to businesses, walstreet and foreign institutional investors.

The fed handed out trillions of dollars in the shadow bank crisis of 2020 to banks, foreign institutional investors and entities like Blackwater real estate.

No fiscally concerned person seems to care about billionaires getting free money for bad decisions but are extremely worried if homeless kids and handicaps get handouts . Completely backward and selfish mindset
