Perhaps because your used to a Gen3 and your hearing a Gen4? There were significant changes between the 2.

…and for comparison, here’s my Gen3 2015 idling with 82k miles on the ODO.
I believe the sound relates to each other, maybe different frequencies, if I must take an educated guess, I would call it valve train (not ticking) just valve train sound (but I've been wrong in the past) Now the thing is if it’s normal for the new car to be noisier than its used predecessor,I wonder it the plastic valve cover on the gen4 allows more noise out than the metal one.

Yeah. Something is rattling. And you can hear it when the ICE shuts off like for a 1/2 second after. I don’t think the inverter spins or anything to make that noise.

There is a an old thread for a gen4 where a guy is posting the same kind of noise, I have no idea how to pin it here, but it's called "Knocking sound inverter side." in the general main forum, it's from 2018 but still makes the point. He describes more or less the same frustration I have & you Bisco helped him out LoL

You mean during load/acceleration or when it's idling and ICE charging the HB?
I'm almost sure it's not coming from the motor either, it looks like the black box thingy next to (when facing the car) it is duing it, also, when the ICE is about to start it does it as well (before the actual motor spins) really odd, unless you are with background noise at the street then it's very audible.
So if I take the car for a check up... is the junior teeneger tech who changes the oil at the bay going to analize it?

yeah, i was talking about acceleration.

it is highly unlikely that a dealer will analyze anything without a trouble light, but i would ask the service manager to have a listen, and compare to one on the lot, if they have anything on the lot.

    here's that thread:

    Thank you Bisco, appreciated!

Yes, under acceleration, you right. It's a bit noiser under load but that's normal.
I will check with other people at work or even my neighbour with gen4 to have a listen.

    Yeah. Just like you said…
The dealer gave me an appointment, I showed up, they brought a technician who is not the junior mechanic that changes the oil, this guy is supposed to be the big technician guy there , anyways he said that whatever is wrong they will fix, not to worry… right? but they must follow Toyota protocols and the first one is to replicate the issue/noise that OF COURSE they were unable to hear any abnormal noise.

They put it in maintenance mode but sure, in the middle of the parking lot with background noise, someone cutting the grass across the lot… it’s not noticiable like in my garage or quiet street. The tech was really nice and offered me to go around the building away from street noise and answered all my questions so then I tried to identify the noise with him, he even listened to the video I posted here. He states that what I might be hearing is the “on-duty” purge valve. The EVAP for the gas tank that’s constantly working. He said that the 2022 is a new model and it’s not the same as 2016–2019 that I compared to because Toyota made changes to the engine and he said that one of them was replacing that purge valve for a bigger one, same as the Camry and other bigger engines.

Because he didn’t hear anything abnormal there is no fix to do. Now I don’t know if I buy the purge valve thing as a valid reason, how come it’s not a common thing on other cars, come on… and not sure if Toyota made changes to the hybrid system as he claims when I explained I did not hear that noise in my friends’s 2016.

Purge valve noise? If that then I wouldn’t be able to hear it when the engine is cold because there is not EVAP pressure yet. I’m saying this because he also states that the 2019 I heard to compare was cold and the purge valve wasn’t working yet for me to hear it.

Mmmmh,… the only credible thing here it that the noise is on the side of that valve, same as the inverter, as I cannot hear it from the passenger side which is the front of the engine where all the timing gear is, so who knows! At least I have a record now, like a work order stating that the tech identified the noise as normal due to that valve. So if something happens in the future at least I have something on record.

Just like you said: no light, no fix.

So if you have a rod knock under warranty you are supposed to drive like that because there will be no malfunction light until the engine quits.

    Oh well. I tried.-

That's exactly what I found on my oil filter media after about 26,000 miles.

The very first time I changed the oil filter of my Mazda, I found a "shaving" so large it got stuck part-way through one of the oil entrance holes of the filter. It didn't even get as far as the media.
