Hi , have friend that is that a dead hybrid battery on his 2013 Prius C and is thinking about changing to the new Lithium pack. Just wondering if it is recommended to change the battery ECU also and if so are they the same for all years or did they change, so he might be able to find one.on Ebay. Or if anyone can recommend a good place to purchase a new or remanufactured ECU, that would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance

The original battery lasted 9 years, an original type replacement battery should last just as long, at which point the car is 18 years old. What could possibly be gained by spending far more on a lithium battery that probably won't last any longer?

Actually the lithium battery for that car is only 1550.00 new which is far less and a lot more powerful than the original replacement

That lithium battery supplier lists everything as sold out......A bad sign. They clearly can't run a biz.

I’m not sure how them selling out is a sign of them not being able to run a business. They’re a smaller business, and they get new shipments in regularly. I think the fact that they managed to successfully launch Project Lithium and keep new shipments coming during the pandemic is a testament to them knowing how to run their operations. More importantly, they tested and researched the battery packs for quite some time, and they seem to be doing well for customers so far.

Anyway, I have a question about the OEM hybrid battery: if one purchases an OEM replacement, is installing it just a matter of removing the old and plugging in the new one?

The ones present on your current battery, and missing from the new one.

It doesn't hurt to take pics before removing anything from your current battery, and the new one as well, help keep straight wire routing and so on.

This is a Camry battery transfer, but worth a watch, in particular the transfer of parts:
