Has anyone installed, or had installed, the Draw-Tite 24966 receiver hitch on a 2022 Prius Prime? I found discussion of that for 2017, but nothing for the 2022. I had the installation with a local chain that specializes is trailers (and so hitches, I assumed), but they called back and said the installation would take 3 or 4 hours, with a lift. Maybe it is because they don't deal with Prius Primes normally, but that seemed excessive. The dealer I bought the Prime form will not install a hitch. Has anyone had experience specifically with installation on a 2022?
I think it involves removing the bumper to install. I suspect they will need two people for that. Not sure how long it takes though.
Have not had the experience but should be the same as the 2017. No rear structural changes have been done thru the years.
The installation on my non prime Prius took 7 hours and they had to remove the whole back end to install the subframe.
Oh, the European hitch. We don't have those in the US and the ones we get here aren't near as strong (mostly because of the weak car sheet metal where the hitch attaches). In fact, US Priuses aren't rated for towing or even a bike rack, according to the manual. I put my Draw-Tite hitch on in a couple of hours. I carry two bikes max on a platform bike rack.
