$#!!!T% I overtightened a coil pack bolt

    The OP set the torque wrench for 80 ft-lbs. The OP didn't tighten nuthin to no 80 ft-lbs, because the torque wrench got a lot easier to turn as soon as the bolt broke, which likely didn't happen a hair above 15.

    The part left in the hole came out with fingers because it would never have bottomed in the hole, so was under no compression, and was under no more tension once the bolt head was gone.

    Thank you for this post. This same issue happened to me but my torque wrench never clicked at 13 ft-lbs after working fine on the other 3 bolts. I should have stopped when I started to wonder why this was taking longer than the other bolts.

    I ended up using a dremel to cut a notch into the broken bolt and a small screwdriver to remove it. I then replaced it with an M6 x 30mm & a washer and hand tightening it.

    Yeah you need to use a little common sense with these; they’re locator bolts, snug them down firmly is all that’s needed. A good “torque limiter” is to use a ratchet wrench one-handed, sort of like a T-handle. Too, if you’ve got a spare socket extension bar, just wrap a bunch of hockey stick tape around the female end, make a makeshift socket screw driver.

    thanks OP,
    Samething happened to me cause the torque is too low my harbor freight torque wrench never clicked. No dealer around me stock this bolt.
    Thanks for the bolt size so I can get one in auto parts stores.

    Did you manage to get the bolt remnant out?

    again: this is the LAST bolt you need to torque, snug it and fugedaboutit.

    And if you do use a torque wrench, set it for the right torque. :)

    Got lucky with the other 3. If the torque is given in the manual as 82 inch pounds, that's 82 ÷ 12 = less than 7 foot pounds. Set for 13, you'd be exceeding the spec by 100%.
