Peak Designs makes good stuff. And this $80 mount is well made, solid aluminum and comes with 3M VHB double sided adhesive tape. I have a roll of this too from past projects and have tried re-applying new tape 3 times. I went so far as to scrub a small portion of the dash with BRAKE CLEANER to ensure it is 100% clean.

The curve and texture of the dash just don't seem to work with this. The adhesive also is not super impressive.

Does anyone have a suggestion for a better adhesive that will work and maybe take up some of the gap from the odd curvature of this mount? Any of you Uber drivers out there who have a better product you suggest?

Funny enough, I have the same peak design mount and it seems to be fine in nearly the same spot (mine may be positioned a tad father up) and I'm using the iPhone 12 pro max, but if I hit a good size bump, it will definitely fall off.

When I used other mounts, I actually used Sugru to attach it to dash. not sure if it will work in this situation.

This is what double-sided adhesive foam tape was invented for.

The foam allows forgiveness for the contour mismatch between the dash and the mount pad.

3M probably makes the best stuff. The 3M #5952 VHB with the red backing is legendary, don't stick it wrong because it'll be there a while. Not always easy to find in small quantities but that's the stuff.

As always, surface prep matters. Clean both surfaces, remove all former adhesives.

Yeah if you read my post, I have applied and re-applied 3M VHB 3 times now. The last time I cleaned the dash with brake cleaner applied to a fresh rag. It is as dry and clean as it will ever be and VHB does not work on our dash. It is made for smooth surfaces. It literally peels right off even after sitting in the sun.

I ordered a similar style product from Gorilla that claims to work on textured dashes. Will udpate.

I keep moving the mount up each time I re-apply with fresh tape. The dash does flatten out. The problem is my 13 pro (smaller than your max) blocks the speedometer the higher I go.

Then I can't explain the difference between what's stuck to my dash and not stuck to yours, and I'll wish you good fortune figuring it out.

Probably also has something to do with the angles on the peak designs mount not matching the contours on the dash. Regardless, it's not sticky enough to work and I need something stickier.

(I remembered this thread from a while back)

So my peak design foam tape finally gave up the ghost a few weeks ago during summer heat, I ended up just using some black Sugru (1 pack was enough) to reattach and it seems to work, I'm slightly worried when it comes to removal time about residue, but we'll cross that bridge when it gets there :D

Your not going to get it to stick short of an industrial adhesive like gorilla or a two part epoxy if that doesn't work....
