Need to buy a new set of tires for 2020 Prius. 195/65R15. Local Toyota dealers all tell me the Toyo Nanoenergy A41 that were the originals are on backorder with no idea when they might get them.

My priority is to maintain the high fuel economy (~63 mpg) that we are getting right now.

Does someone have a recommendation that will fill my need? Costco has
Bridgestone - ECOPIA EP422 PLUS. Will these deliver the same fuel economy?

    Or are there other recommendations?

    Thanks

I like the Defenders from Costco, but they are not a Low R.R. tire so they won't deliver 63MPG.
I have 67k miles on them now with maybe 10k left and I get low 50s mpg. I had the original EP422.
They were OK. Costco tire people tell me the Plus is a better version of the original. Check
reviews on Tire Rack, but Costco only carries Michelin and Bridgestone.

Costco has $150 off a set of 4 Bridgestone right now. Just bought 4 new Ecopia PP420 or whatevers for $520 installed.

Your mileage goes up as your tires wear down... they lose rotational mass when the tires wear. You'll get the best mileage on BALD LRR tires. You also log slightly more apparent mileage per fillup as the circumference slightly decreases with more wear. Don't expect anything new to exactly match your old worn out Toyos as far as MPGs go, your 63 MPG is likely a false reality.

Also calc your mileage by hand, my screen always reads about 10% higher than actual.

My 2nd set were the Ecopias and I saw a drop of a good 5 MPG over the life of those tires (55-60 MPG depending on time of year and type of driving). Then I went with the Defenders for my 3rd set and that dropped even lower (48-53MPG). I'm almost at the end of life for these and I'll probably go back to the Ecopias, unless I see a better suggestion here.

OP do you live where it snows? We were discussing winter tires in another thread. One gentleman said his Prime is competent with winter tires in snow. I have the same Toyos you have and will need a new set of “something” - quite soon so I’ll be interested in your reply.

Those are on my ‘22 XLE NIGHTSHADE and currently with 1700 miles on it the last 2 tank fulls I have averaged mid 60’s (but then I don’t use it as an RV or Delivery Van ;) ). FWIW
