One of the six noble gases.
Mostly associated with groovy signs back before LEDs and digitized music colluded to make the world less colorful both in sound and light.

Used to power lasers for EUV lithography which is "somewhat" essential in microchip production.

More than two thirds of the all of the neon in the whole wide world is made in.....................(wait for it!)

    ........Ukraine!
    Oooooof COURSE it is.....

    Interesting.
At least we get from air so in theory we can make more if it.

Helium supply bit more problematic, comes from a few natural gas wells

People that make microchips aren't noted for being morons.
I'm told that there are ways to recycle the gas and, of course, they stocked up before the invasion.

    Still....who the heck knows?

You would think Argon 1% in air might be good for tires, but nothing much as big molecule as N2.
We are lucky air is 79% N2

Almost every time I or my wife are at a tire retailer, or the stealership for whatever reason, nitrogen is offered for filling, at a price of course, and with all sorts of tire benefits attached. I always say "Oh, no thanks, I think there's still somewhare around 80% nitrogen left in my tires since the last time I filled them, and that should suffice for now." Somehow, they always look puzzled by that, and I don't have the balls to tell them why. Do they get commission for that service, I wonder? Do they even know what our air is?

For my bike tires (and the Prius mini-spare) I use a special heavy gas called STAFIL.
My bike tires have stayed full for several years to the point they are bald and I am unsafe hitting slick spots. I need to bite the bullet and get new bike tires.

Years ago I believe it was fashionable to use Argon for car tires. Although N2 leaks more slowly, Ar is heavier and gave a smoother ride. Not sure if for today's modern radial tires that would still be a benefit.
