This was a while ago but wonder why. Tried the non-techy way of doing it using the trip button like I've seen on YT.
Took it Toyota and they couldn't even turn it off with a tech stream. They told me they've had issues disabling the beep in some Gen 2's.

Also..why on earth did Toyota even put a backup beeper in these cars? Would make sense if it was on the outside where people can't hear the ICE if it's off..but it's pointless on the inside.

Find beeper cut wire or post if board mounted.

There is no option for turning it off. You can only choose between a single beep and continuous beeping.

That's true with newer Prius. But old Gen2 Prius you can turn them off entirely. Catch is sooner or later you're gonna stop at a red light a little over the limit line and put it in reverse to back up a little and without that beep you may forget to shift back into drive. If you're a leadfooted driver that likes to accelerate quickly you're gonna smash into the vehicle behind you. But if you're a careful driver with a quick reaction time you might get away with it.

The Dr Prius app shows "disable reverse beep" option in the Special Features screen.

The Dr Prius feature is bogus. It doesn’t work on many Prius’s.
When I tried to use it on my 2007, it said, sorry doesn’t work with your model.

I just found a video showing how that's done. I sure wish I'd known that when we had our Gen 2 Prii.

From 1972 through 2014 none of my cars had reverse beepers. Somehow I miraculously escaped flooring the accelerator without knowing what gear I was in. At least when that gear was in reverse anyway. LOL!
