Besides outside/inside temperatures, PP is also monitoring the humidity inside cabin. There is a sensor inside for humidity. Probably that's why you have different behavior at the same temperature.

You make a good point about humidity detection and difference in behaviour.

No new observations, more of the same given that the temperatures are similar to before.

Hopefully it starts warming up soon so I can witness how the remote start system behaves with temperatures above freezing.

Finally got up to 17 C today.

Using the Compustar remote start resulted in the front defrost coming on with the a/c. But the ICE did NOT start.

So it looks like I will be able to also use the Compustar remote start to cool the cabin when it gets hot.

Interesting. That brings me to a question. Would PP starts the engine automatically if I hit the front windshield defrost button in summer? I know in winter, it is an automatic engine on. But, I have never tried using the front defroster in summer. If it does, then I wonder how Compustar makes it possible to start the front defroster and not start the engine?

With 18C ambient and temp set at 17C, the ICE does NOT come on when the front window defrost is selected.

What happens if the temp was set at 20C? Does it start the engine if you press the front window defrost?

Another data point from this morning:

With 7C ambient and temp set at 17C, the ICE started when the defrost was selected.

Makes sense that the engine turns on only if it needs extra heat from the engine. As long as the ambient temp is higher than the set temperature, the car does not need to use the engine to be turned on even if you turn on the front defroster switch. Good to know.

    A summer update:

Nearly the end of the summer, and I have yet to have a reason to use the Compustar remote starter since last winter.

The heat pump is so quick to cool the cabin that it is comfortable in the vehicle within minutes of starting to drive.

I do not expect to use the Compustar again until we have frigid cold temps (less than -20C) again . That is when the Prime does not go into EV mode anyway and there is no value in charging the traction battery.
