Storing my 2018 Prius for 8 weeks, should I disconnect battery or just turn off Smart Entry?

I'm leaving town for 8 weeks. Is it recommended to disconnect the battery in the back or just turn off the Smart Entry feature? Thanks!

8 weeks is getting there on drainage, but it depends on the health of the battery.

i would certainly shut off smart entry, (although on gen4 it may shut itself off after awhile?)

if you could put a tender on it, that would be ideal. if not, i would disconnect the negative and live with the consequences upon return.

just looked, is it a gen4 or 2007?

The Car Care Nut addresses this very thing in one of his YouTube videos. Well worth the time to watch it IMHO

I believe according to the manual it shuts down the smart entry after 15 days or so. I would recommend making sure the hybrid charge is maxed out as much as possible, IE drive it down the road keeping the engine on until the battery is full and brake lightly to gain as much hybrid traction battery power before leaving it so long. If its possible, put one of those battery tender charges on it. If thats not possible, I think it should be ok either by disconnecting the battery posts or leaving it connected. As far as charging the hybrid battery an alternate way, push down the gas and brake at the same time, and that will force charge the battery as well.

You might want to check your owners manual as far as shutting down the smart key system. You might be surprised what you could learn.
