Constant whirring noise with power on but not the engine

    yeah, to me, that is not the brake actuator. do you hear the buzzing sound when you open the drivers door?

    Did any recording get posted yet? Or is bisco just going from the description?

    Look up at the PriusChat banner for the Media tab ... it accepts more file types than are allowed right in forum posts. Then you can link there in a forum post.

    Also, forum attachments allow zip, so you can zip a sound file and attach that, but of course that means others have to download and unzip it to listen.

    What is the gurgling noise and from where is it emanating?

    What is the level of the inverter coolant reservoir?

    YES!! The gurgling noise! That tank to the left of the valve cover, that's the coolant? Yes, it's low and yes, it's the only other sound that happens when that whistle sound is happening. I will fill that up and let you know if that fixes the sound.

    Thank God for the relative anonymity of this forum as I'd hate to have to show my face. Yes, the up/down whirring noise went away with a little coolant - there's still a constant sound of what must be the pump or something that apparently runs even if the engine isn't running or in Ready mode. But yes - adding coolant appears to have resolved that variable whirring noise and besides feeling pretty stupid, I'm super grateful for all your help!
