It also has a collision sensor, so if an accident, the video is saved in a separate folder.

That's only if you got the optional ~$42 wiring adapter, and then ran a wire to the fuse box (or appropriate wires).
Also, the standard adapter uses crimp connections for the wires. That makes it tight to fit the stock wiring-adapter in the plastic housing up top.

For a Prius Prime, note that the rear hatch is Carbon Fiber. Yes, real Carbon Fiber!
So, you can't (/shouldn't) use a screwdriver to pop out the plastic fitting that holds the rubber weather wire-loom/cover for the top wiring harnesses. Or, try to force the rubber wire-loom/cover over the plastic fitting. For the plastic fitting, use a fine pick, push in the tab, remove the fitting. Put the rubber cover on both plastic fittings, then insert the fittings back into the hatch and body.

For the rear camera, run the wire behind the front pillar air bag.

For mounting the rear camera to the rear window, clean, clean, and clean again with alcohol pads.

Interesting, the video I saw makes no mention of that, only that it's one of your settings.

The wiring adapter is for always on, if collision occurs while not moving.

If moving you don't need the adapter and collision will segment the video in the locked folder. You can dial in the impact sensitivity if you want.

I started a thread a couple of days ago asking for tips on how to drop the pass side of the headliner to route cable for rear camera. So far no response…

after almost 16 months of flawless use, recently my FitcamX started to record the incorrect time and or date, or often just simply not turn on at all. Since I just assumed that it was always on when I started the car, I didn't notice that it wasn't on until I went in to the files to look for something. Quite a surprise to see that it hadn't recorded a few of my drives! Also, I was rear-ended last month, and the dashcam didn't lock the file as a crash (I had it set to the default sensitivity).
After a few emails with the company, they told me that since it is past the 1 year warranty, I had to try to replace the little ML621 battery inside the camera! They did not provide any instructions for disassembling the camera, but offered to send me a video on how to do it.

I'm debating whether to do this, get a new unit entirely, or just toss the whole thing. It's a good design for a dashcam and relatively easy installation, but doesn't seem very reliable at all.

Thanks for the heads up on battery life... I'll need to check and replace mine if necessary
