I have a 2013 Prius with 73k miles on it yesterday the ABS and Traction lights came on out of no where. Took the car to a Auto Zone they scanned it got the CODE C1391 - BRAKE BOOSTER /MASTER CYLINDER . Searched around found out about the customer support program ZJB . I called Toyota they confirmed I'm eligible. Took it right into the dealer I also showed them the Inverter class action card I got in the mail a few months back they confirmed gave me a free rent a car and told me both will be fixed and the car will be ready tomorrow afternoon.

Sometimes you just get lucky :)

Have you had an inverter failure? That class action card just tells you it'll be fixed for free if that happens (provided that settlement gets approved in January, as expected), but it's not like a recall where there's anything they have to do now.

There were two past recalls, E0E and J0V, involving the inverter, so they can certainly check and apply those if they haven't been already, but those really were recalls, so they both probably have already been done.

The only preemptive inverter "fix" was a software upgrade. There is a 15 year unlimited mile inverter hardware replacement program if certain inverter failures occur, usually causing limp home mode or total failure. The upcoming class action settlement adds 5 years, towing and rental car, which were not required in the current inverter program.

The brake booster program is ten year or 150,000 miles. It does replace both the master cylinder assembly and pump.

All of these failures occurred in my car years ago. Very likely for others as well.

I mean you have a 2013 car with 70,000 mi on it 75,000 whatever You're not even broke in good for a Toyota You're like 10,000 miles on the Chevrolet 70,000 on the Toyota seriously. No Toyota that I've ever owned at 5 years would have much less than 150,000 miles . Just isn't going to happen we drive the cars they don't drive us much so 2013 at 73,000 mi that's a garage queen someone's riding the bike has a permanent ride to work doesn't work something doesn't drive much All of my cars would have been out of the inverter and all of those warranties before they were even implemented then there's that

I bought the car 5/15 with 14k miles on it
I actually use it for work I have a small Fire Extinguisher sales and service company and basically I just drive around all day going from business to business checking peoples there fire extinguishers. I been in business a long time since 1987 and literally service thousands of places a year it's just that most of the accounts I service at this point are in at most a 20mile radius from home so I don't seem to be putting on much miles.

Just got the vehicle back today the service adviser said they replaced the IPM Inverter along with other parts. Take a look at the attached service invoice maybe you can make better sense of what they actually did ?

You certainly won the customer support program lottery today. New master cylinder/ecu/abs and pump/accumulator. Along with new inverter modules.

It says they replaced the IPM, the MG ECU, and the current sensor, all inside the inverter assembly, same as they would normally do under the ZE3 warranty extension, if the inverter had impressively failed. (When they fail less impressively, fewer of those inside parts get replaced.) They say they saw a P0A94 code, which is one of the codes that can justify that repair.

You didn't quite get the full jackpot: sometimes they fail impressively enough to actually damage the inverter housing, and then you get a whole new shiny one.

And yet you're saying you hadn't had any inverter issues? Had you seen a P0A94 code?

No P0A94 CODE just the CODE C1391 which only popped up once then went away lucky i ran into a Auto Zone and had it scanned and getting that print out just then because showing them the print out went a long way.

You definitely had a brake problem covered under ZJB, so it's no surprise they handled that.

As to the replacement of your trouble-free inverter bits, the invoice shows they made an AHG10C warranty claim to get reimbursed for those, which only applies if certain inverter-related trouble codes are present, which you didn't have, but they put P0A94 on the paperwork in order to qualify. Hope they won't get in trouble.

Maybe when you showed them the class-action settlement notice (which only adds five years to the warranty coverage, it still doesn't apply unless/until there is an issue, and the settlement isn't even approved yet), somebody there misunderstood that and said you'd get the inverter bits replaced right away, and then they stuck by what they had promised you, despite realizing that without the trouble code they wouldn't qualify for reimbursement. I'm not sure my local dealer would stick their neck out that far for me. :)

I have to think the inverter did throw the code but it was not read by a low cost scanner at Autozone.

There were also no reported symptoms consistent with P0A94, and no report of the master warning triangle, which comes on for that code.

Never owned a car that would even be able to get close to a dealership for anything near a warranty claim.HeHe.

My gen3 has "warranted" more than $8,000 of dealer retail pricing (inverter and brake booster) for me, far exceeding the runner up, a 2001 Honda Accord that warranted a new tranny at 75k. To say nothing of gen3 excessive oil consumption or resulting head gasket failures. The apologists can do their song and dance but this generation is seriously flawed.

I'm waiting to see what happens with my JDM engine If we can take it to 300k I would say the car is reasonable I mean other than the blown engine which I didn't know anything about at the time the propensity to blow engines that is. And the remanufactured battery from the hybrid doctor that's running great been pretty much spot on not really anything interesting It doesn't get 50 miles to the gallon it gets Gen 2 mileage basically so far that we've seen nothing's wrong no codes everything seems to be good I can get a little bit better than that but the wife no way.
