I know, another tire thread... But it isn't easy digging through old threads on these forums .

I'm trying to figure out what tires to get with comfort/noise in mind. MPG is secondary. What are your thoughts? These are the tires I've seen recommended in my research so far:
    • Bridgestone Ecopia EP422 Plus 91H
    • Michelin Defender T + H 91H
    • Continental TrueContact Tour (91H or 91T?)
    • Hankook Kinergy PT H737 91H
    • General Tire AltiMAX RT43 91H
    • Yokohama Avid Ascend LX
    • Nokian One 91H

Out of the 7 of the recommended tires you've chosen, I recommend the Ecopia EP422. But honestly they will all be pretty close, the poor insulation inside of a Prius won't make any tires seem very quite

Michelins have been my choice on all my Prii. 80,000 miles tire life minimum, they rarely lose their balance and ride great. Premier A/S and Defenders. Obviously you have to drive smart but not necessarily slow. Original brakes at 265k. Saves tires as well. Buy at Costco for a good price and free rotations, balance, repairs and nitrogen. I have changed tires on brand new cars to get them. Of course you sell the oem tires for 2/3 of the Michelin cost and recover the rest when you don't have to change worn out oem tires at 40,000 miles. From the company who invented radials.

    Satisfied RT43 customer here.

I had Michelin Harmonies on my Gen 1 for a while and liked those a lot, but they were discontinued and I had to replace them with Defenders, which were annoyingly louder. When I first got this Gen 3, I tried Michelin Premier A/S on it, and they were nice, quiet, and surefooted, but the expected tread life was supposed to be 60k and when I measured them at 20k they were half gone, so they represented a pretty high cost per mile. Replaced those with RT43s and haven't looked back.

Should the Vredestein Quatrac 5 have been included in that list? I've never tried them, but I remember seeing strikingly good reviews of them a few years back.

I second the recommendation for General RT43s. They made our Hyundai more comfortable and less noisy.

Once we finish off the Prius factory tires we're switching. Probably April.

I have had great success with comfort, road noise, handling, and MPG with the Pirelli P4. I drive a mix of interstate and city driving daily.

For the Costco offers, would it require Costco membership? Would I be able to use someone else's membership? I'm not a member, so... But I was thinking to maybe shop around, and then have Discount Tire price match

You could use another membership but they might have to be there for the install. It is possible to price and order online. Costco and Sams Club usually have a buy three get one free every other month. Costco traditionally beats their own out the door prices New Years day online. If you live near a Costco, their top tier gas prices alone can pay a significant price of the membership over a year. Discount Tire is very close to the Costco price. I have noticed Costco installation prices rising which used to be free. Sometimes you have to wait if they are sold out of your size.

Ended up going with Continental TrueContact Tour 91H from Tire Rack, installed at Discount Tire. Pretty happy with the tires so far

My fav rain tire w high dry grip and lateral stability Set of 4 (FOUR) Fullway HP108 195/60R15 88H Tires A/S Performance Tires https://www.walmart.com/ip/650768237

I have found these tires to be the lightest in weight of all the tires I've tested and that gives me better acceleration

Here's an a-rated rain tire that I find overall comfortable that cost a little bit less Douglas All-Season 195/60R15 88H All-Season Tire https://www.walmart.com/ip/49021621

Still I think fullway is my favorite for lateral grip

I found those tires to be quite heavy and that makes it really difficult to accelerate the car

These are the high load 149 mph version. You'll never have enough weight in the car to maximize their carrying capacity and you'll never be able to get up to 149 mph but if you wanted a tire that's capable of far more than the Prius on the car for some bizarre reason you could spend more and get these if you like. Just in case you plan done having a GVWR of 6,836 lbs while doing 149mph lol
