Open center console and pry up cup holder from the rear. No tools needed for this.

Push in the tab on the connector to remove it then pry the button module out of the grayish plastic holder. Optional, you may also want to remove the gray piece so you can wash between the gray plastic and the black part that contains the cup holder. To do this you have to remove the larger Phillips screws and pry the holding the tabs.

Remove the two small screws from the bottom of the module (already removed in my pictures) then pry the bottom base off.

    Remove the control board.

Pry the individual buttons out. May need two flat head screw drivers for this, one of each side of the button. Wash the buttons and frame you just removed them from. Don't wash the control board.

Dry and reassemble everything in reverse order.

I just got a Prius V yesterday and noticed I couldn’t get the eco mode button to work. I used your procedure and it worked great thanks!

Timely post and good job! I just discovered that my mode buttons are sticky.

I'll have to say that the mode buttons on the v (wagon) are in a really poor location. Seems really susceptible to 'spillage'. (y)

Does anyone get creaks in that area? I have a console creak in the cupholder area and it drives me nuts sometimes.

Brilliant write up and procedure. Stupid design - placing buttons right next to the cup holder, practically begging for soda and coffee to spill onto the buttons.

The great devaluator which will lead to early demise of these functions. Can you imagine 10 years of foreign material?

    This is great! Thank you!

Now I'm thinking about a cup holder that is about 3mm bigger so my Hydroflask will fit. I needs my coffee.

Excellent directions! Just bought a 2012 that was stuck in Eco and EV-- not sure what that did to the car. I was able to clean this up and they work like new now!
