    Hello-

My 2006 Prius has been making this noise every 10-15 seconds. It used to happen only rarely, now I hear it at all times, while driving, while idle, before startup and after. I have searched here to find a similar noise, but most post's audio files are no longer available.

Any advice or insight is very much appreciated.

Here is the link again: (the audio has to be turned on in the media player)

    Cheers,

That is your ABS pump running to pressurize the brake fluid accumulator. The brake actuator module that the pump and accumulator are mounted to most likely has an internal leak. Eventually, it will get bad enough that it will cause a DTC and the brake warning lights will illuminate. Actuator assembly will need to be replaced. Very common Gen 2 problem.

    Thanks,
I really appreciate the info. Seems like it could be a pricey repair. Is it bad to keep driving it for now until I can get some money together? Or is it an urgent repair that could do more damage if left alone?

fine to drive it until you get warning lights/trouble codes. could be a long while yet, hard to say.

Not really, that noise is coming from the LR of the engine compartment, right where the ABS pump/actuator is.
