That is what I had heard.

I posted here in the "Generation 1 Prius Discussion" on Sept 25 to see if anyone was interested in mine but I didn't get much response. Do you have any suggestions where I could post it?

I didn't read all the answers, so excuse any repeat...in the US, you'd just get a bonded title. Plenty of places provide that service. If you have the original title, great, but the don't need one - you're going to pay a fee - a bond - swearing that you have rightful ownership and asking for a new, duplicate title be issued in your name. If anyone ever questions your ownership, and proves themselves to be the rightful owner, the bond company pays any costs the real owner has to get possession and clear title. For that risk, they charge a few hundred dollars.

Hmm, not sure what that's about, but, for the record, one of the states where you can "wash" a title is Kentucky. There's a couple more, but I forget which ones; maybe Indiana.

This is Canadian business so all bets are off I went up there to pick up a friend's motorcycle and just getting that bike out of Canada into America was almost a disaster It was actually very hysterical us coming through customs during COVID in a U-Haul rented truck pickup a big V8 with a big bore scooter in the bed of the truck A nice one and they pulled us through customs and it was hysterical 2 hours of nothingness It was just so funny I wish I could have made a movie of it The guys were really funny to the Canadians were hysterical I mean we were all baked and you know good to go so we didn't care we knew we were going to be held up and we just made the best of it sat out front drinking our drinks laughing giving them information they're trying to look up this 2006 scooter for valuation and tax purposes and paperwork to get it in the country It was just funny

When I lived in Detroit, I was quite near the Ambassador Bridge, so it was easy (pre-9/11) to visit Windsor, Ontario for a lark. There were also said to be several shops there that were good sources for business shirts.

So I went over one day and came back with a couple nice shirts. At US customs they asked if I had anything to declare, and I said "yes, these two shirts here".

They directed me to park in their lot, and took me inside, while a crew spent something like two hours searching my car. In the end they found the two shirts I'd told them about.

If you got through without any portion of your vehicle being disassembled (re-assembly is your own responsibility), without legal products you brought being spoiled, and without a full body search, then you did OK.

I haven't suffered any of those, but have heard from a very few who have. But then we also sometimes hear from local news where such actions find real paydirt.

my buddy got pulled aside coming back from mexico because his eyes were red.

strip searched including probe, dismantled all his luggage and golf clubs, then left him naked to put everything back together.

he still made our flight

Did they ask you if you had any guns? On our Alaska trip they asked us both times, coming in from Washington and coming back at the Yukon checkpoint. The guy mentioned us being from TX. All of us carry guns all the time down here, doncha know.

I'm nearly always asked that question. But they already know I'm a gun owner because I have a pistol registered with them, from a long-ago competition on their soil.

Crossing onto their soil for that match, with the proper registration form, was one of my easiest and quickest entrances into Canada. Coming back into the U.S. that time was my slowest return, as U.S. officers probed into whether the Canadians knew I had taken a gun there.

It was our first crossing, and the guy caught me completely off guard, which is probably the intent. He asks, "What do you got for protection?"

I think he knew "nothing" by my reaction, a big-eyed "why do we need protection? Um, we got our dog." I had my Lab with us, he got through without issue. All I thought of was that serial killer who'd been stalking the Alaskan Highway through BC a few years back, and asked about it. He quickly did an about face, seeing he'd panicked us, lol.

I've never been asked in that manner. So maybe your Texas plate did have something to do with it.

the only protection you need going into canada is a goalie mask so you don't take a puck on the noggin

Well, it was me and my son, and we weren't shaving for the whole trip - roughing it - so we looked pretty ruthless, and that cur didn't help.

Yep just like nosy nice person Americans got to call another country to find out whether they know that I blah blah blah stupid dinks. I don't travel much anymore specifically because of all this moronic nonsense and when I do the guns the drugs and the toys are already where I'm going I don't need to tote them with me even when I was in military Intel things could be brought to silly levels very quickly
