2012 prius. My oem hybrid battery went out around 215k (not bad eh). Looked into all the popular refurbished options (I'm in southern California where a few are located) and decided to go with battery4hybrid.com. I went with the $1200 option, as I thought 12 months/20k mileage would hold up. Yeah I was wrong. I have had them come out and replace this battery 4 times in the past few months, these batteries are not even lasting more than a few thousand miles! Not really sure what to do at this point. I'll keep having them come out and swap batteries until the warranty officially expires but I'm also driving without any kind of ev for a few days while I have to wait each time, which I suspect is not good for the Prius. I'm not sure if I'll go with another refurbished option or go to a junkyard and see if I can find any gen 3 Prius with *lower* miles. There are a few websites that offer "new" batteries for under 2k and have half the cells or whatever. The original oem battery lasted over 200k miles so my thinking is getting a new battery will last about the same. There are no other issues with my car, everything else is good.

At least the company is honoring their warranty and coming out for the 4th time to replace your battery. Unfortunately for you, you'll probably see them another 4 times before your warranty runs out. Bad situation all around

Best to buy new or slightly used from a wreck. Don't deal with these refurbished products unless it's cheap $500 cheap

Majority of the Yelp reviews for this company are one star, with complaints similar to yours. Even some of the five star reviews where customers were thrilled with the great price, came back to change to one star.

On their website they claim to have been in business since '09, but it doesn't sound like they do much more than swap out bad cells, which is a cheap way to keep a pack going in the short run, but not a good fix in the long run.

If you have a rebuilt Toyota OEM pack, you should still be able to exchange it as a core for a new pack from Toyota. If it's an after market pack, you may be out the $1,300 core charge if you decide to get a new OEM.

I paid $14.40 or something like that for a brand new Toyota battery I don't know what they've all of a sudden gone up to but if everybody still paying $12 and $1,300 for the dance that people do with these refurbished recharged whatever batteries how is saving two to four to even $600 worth your time It certainly not worth mine to be doing all this fiddle farting around when I could have just spent the other two for $500 and had a brand new battery and been done with it I'm certainly glad that's what I did with mine after reading all these stories but I will tell you I went to the hybrid doctor when I was replacing the engine in my Gen 3. And he did a bang-up job handed me a rack of cells and they have stayed in the upper charging range and all that for the last four or five months the car's been on the road cost me $650 bucks I think so when it fails I'll figure out what it's cost me I guess but that seemed to work well and the guy seems like a real intelligent guy and does decent work I think people may think differently of the guy because he's a foreigner but so am I so I don't have these problems far as I'm concerned he did a bang up job the car is running great doesn't get the 50 miles to the gallon and everybody claims here at Gen 3 will get but I'm not chasing that the cars in your perfect condition and runs great I would say I would pay the 1440 again for a new battery without even thinking about it of course I guess they've gone up a few dollars now which is why everybody's paying the $1,200 for the refurbed things weird.

If you can find an oem for around 2k, I would go for it
