Model year differences from 04

    Of course there is nothing I would like better than a 2007 totally loaded Prius...Alas, I will be starting a new real estate brokerage in 2007 and need to mind my $$. I am considering used Prius's. From what I could find out so far it seems that the body style changed in 2005. Is that correct? Were there any important changes from 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2007?

    Are there any REALTORS on this board driving Prius'? Do any of you have great deals on gently used?

    I have heard that the driver's seat is not comfortable due to the fact it does not have lumbar and height adjustments. Is that true?

    What features, other than gas mileage do you appreciate most about your Prius?

    Is there anything you do not like?

    The only differences that I know of are the the side hybrid icon thing, backup cam, rear light is not blacked out, the reflective strip on the headlights goes all the way up and down the side of the headlight, maybe some maunfacturing changes that I do not know of, and if you are comparing the 2007 Touring Prius the wheel, and spoiler. I probably like the back up camera feature and the navigation the most (besides the great mileage). Hopes this helps! :)

    On your info under your username on the post thing there is no package 9 2007 Toyota Prius the fully loadad is Package 6.

    I do not own a Prius yet, so I had to fake my way through that part of the system. I tend to be a chronic obsessed researcher prior to a purchase of substantial $$. I guess I am wondering if for the current Prius owner, has it been worth the $$? I also wondered if the backup camera is important to those who have it. It seems to me to be a great feature. Was that developed to compensate for the Prius rear window visability?

    My debate is this--I can continue with acceptable cars that are fully paid off, or take a chance and indebt myself. If I indebt myself--it really needs to be worth it without question.

    As a Real Estate Agent/Broker, I have noticed that those in the business tend to drive fancier, more luxurious cars. I would like to differentiate myself a bit--and maybe be known for being environmentally conscious, and sensible in purchase.

    From what I have read here so far, it seems that the 06 seats are more comfortable though no one can explain why. I may go Corolla, which would cost substantially less. The mileage is still good, though not as good.

    So, I debate--spring for 07, look for used, or go to a different model. The peculiar thing about the Prius I have noticed so far is that you don't save that much money by going used because they hold their value. BELIEVE me I have compared.

    I am considering risking a rebuilt from http://offpricecars.com . He seems to have a good reputation. Of course there would be no warranty, but it is my understanding that I can buy an extended warranty.

    Another question I have is--of the Toyota Prius owners here, I wonder how many have actually used their warranties.

    I don't know if it was, but I find this feature indispensable.

    The very first Prius I ever rode in, back in 2001, was driven by my realtor.

    I drive a 2004 that I got in January of that year. I think the backup camera would be cool, but I really don't need it. You learn with practice where your car's limits are, and you learn faster if you pull up to some markings, get out and see where you are, get back in and see how it looks, etc. Do that 2 or 3 times and you're set.

    I didn't buy my Prius to "save" money on gas. I bought it because of the cool technology, and because it pollutes less. Burning less gas is part of that, but for me it's the ecological, not the financial aspect. I love being able to go in EV mode, even though it's very limited. I love it that the engine does not start when I creep forward in line at a stoplight. I love the fact that it has no transmission. I'm not entirely sure why I should love that fact so much, but I do.

    However, I would never go into debt to buy a new car. If your present transportation works for you, and you are about to start a new business, postpone buying any new car until your business is established and providing you with income. How would you feel if your business failed because you were just $25K shy of the capital you needed, because you had bought a car you didn't need?

    The body style and technology did not change from 2004 to 2007. Some cosmetic changes just so afficianados can tell the difference. And the backup camera, which is cool but not necessary. Oh, yes, and the CAN-View is NOT available for the 2006 or 2007 models because the way the MFD works was changed. If you get an '04 you can get the CAN-View.

    On the other hand, the model year 2009 is rumored to be a significant improvement in technology. If you hold off until your business is producing income you may be able to buy a much nicer car with money you can actually afford.

    2004 is the new bodystyle
    2005 adds clips to the headliner and rearrangement of packages
    2006 refreshes the design with chrome grille, chrome brake light surround, HYBRID emblems, different headlight design, blue-tinted headlights, addition of backup camera and leather as options, tyre pressure monitoring system, advanced front airbags, new dashboard material, higher resolution screen, lower rear seats and new colours
    2007 adds Touring Edition and side/side curtain airbag as standard

    Seats are ok but I do wish there was more adjustment. The lack of height adjustment is just an insult and a obvious cost-cutting attempt (other countries get height adjustment)

    I like EV Drive mode and the cool gadgets

    I don't like the stock tyres and the stiff-ish suspension.
