    Hello,
I would like someone to advice me if I should sell my 2009 Prius with 55,600 miles. I recently replace the whole brake actuator which cost me $2,800 in July. Now the hybrid battery needs to be replaced which cost $3,400 and another code came up which is the ECzM code which cost $1,194 . Should I keep fixing this car or just lose what I invested in the summer and get it junk? I ask the dealership how much I could get in as a trade in and they said only $500-1,000. What should I do…. Fix and keep , trade in , or junk? Thx

Well with your signature and all I'm guessing you can't do anything and that's that so probably best for you to go back to a gas car like a Corolla or a Honda Civic and then that's easier to pay people to do whatever it is you do I don't pay people to do much of anything That's just my nature some people I have to pay for everything because they have no interest or whatever it is I wish you good luck 55,000 mi on an '09 is nothing that car should go to $600,000 mi with minimal work what's your paying for the work you're having done is maximum retail to me you're getting taken to the cleaners but that's just me Good luck buddy

I suspect a troll (signed up today and has only posted once with a provocative handle) but if he/she is for real, the proper thing to do is to get a different mechanic.

Yes, the mileage is low, but you don't trust any code while the traction battery is in an unknown state. The value of the catalytic converter is greater than the price that he quoted.

    Hello,
Yea I’m a real person. I’m honestly just asking for honest advice from other Prius owners. I got that car when it had 20,000 miles in the 5 years I’ve had it I only put in 25,000. About a year and half I invest for something ( don’t recall what service) but it was $1,200 and now the $2,800 in July and now this. I’m just stressed because it’s a lot of money and I’m not sure if it’s worth it. you said to go to another mechanic which I will. It’s such a shame since basically that car is in perfect conditions inside.

Thank you for your response. I do think I’m getting ripped off. I’m going to ask another mechanic.

According to Kelley Blue Book, repaired an '09 Prius with 55k miles is worth around $7,000 to $12,000, depending on if you want to trade or sell yourself, and condition. Not junk.

You should find a hybrid independent mechanic. With references. Since you chose to hide your location, you can't get recommendations.

If you let us know what region in the US you live, you're way more likely to get help from someone near you. For the most part myself and others ignore people who aren't specific enough about their location.

lol... Something about people who want everyone to know how much they hate their Prius and want to get rid of it never goes over well on Prius lovers. Happy to not help you because you'd rather lose money than save it.

Anything is a headache that you do not comprehend well . Even you're pet.. Prii are interesting yes . And one the lowest maintenance requirements in industry similar to EV minus Tesla's from suspension issues . He he . So if Yasi Toyoda or whatever his name is EV the Prius without reinventing the rest of my Rolla /Prii. They will have a winner . I don't care about all the connectivity. funny door handles . And weak front suspensions. Just ev Rolla /Prii. Without the nonesense.
