C1391: Actuator part number

    Hello all

    I am having error code c1391 with my 2010 prius 17" wheels. i am looking for second hand parts to buy since local toyota dealer quoted $3625 for "pump assy brake booster" and $1875 for "brake master cylinder" and $400 for labor.

    However there seems to be a lot of confusion regarding the part number.
    i am looking to buy both the actuator(master brake cylinder) first then if error persists the accumulator(pump assy brake booster).

    When examinig the actuator in the engine bay i noticed there are 2 different part numbers: (see attached pic)

    1) front of actuator: 47200-47030 with letters EA marked to the right.

    2) bottom of actuator: 47270-47030
    I read in one post of Chapman that one if them is part number and the other mark number.

    So my questions are :

    1) can you please confirm which code (front or bottom) you used as part number please for actuator?

    2) will a 2016 model actuator fit in my 2010 car since i understand most 2009-2015 have these issues.?(2010=zvw30 2016=zvw50)

    3) also if i use a different part number for the accumulator will it work? my understanding is that the ECU is only in the actuator part and not accumulator.

    I confirmed the part numbers and since mine is a japanese model the part numbers are:

    4705047130 for actuator : $ 2700 on megazip

    4705047060 for accumulator : $ 900 on megazip

    Pretty expensive new parts and so far no second hand available in my region since 17inch wheels are not that common.

    Anyways still looking for the parts and hopefully i will get a second hand part soon.

    After 7 years with my car and 175 KM on the counter, it might be time to let go and get a new car.

    Note: I loved the Prius but never getting another one again...The battery and its other hybrid parts are soo expensive and don't last that long.

    On this same subject, We were told by our Lakeland Toyota Dealer 11/3/'22 that our 2012 Prius V-2 VIN# JTDZN3EU9C3105757 needs a brake master cylinder Part# 4705047110 They are telling us that part alone is $1,683.00 ?? Labor = $600.00+
    We have purchased parts from the Stuart, FL Toyota Dealer Certified Used in the past for a more economical price and they are telling us that they need the Actual # off of the Part that is to be removed to be sure of the Compatibility of the Replacement part due to the electronics involved ?
    The Mechanic at the Independent shop does not want to remove the existing part until he has one that will be shipped to replace the one that he is removing (that we need the Part# off of ?) Is there anyway that we can tell by the above VIN# what the actual part # would be on our 2012 Toyota Prius V-2 ? Or do I just Crap Shoot and order the:

    Which the above both items from Treasure Coast Toyota of Stuart, FL list my Year/Make/Model as Compatible but this Dealership says to be sure they need that Part # that my Mechanic does not want to remove to disable (the already disabled[had to be towed] Prius) Please Advise as my Economical Nature says to order the $624.99 part and then the Mechanic will pull the Part (then we will have the Exact Part Number) and if the $624.99 part does not work, I will return it and have the Information that the Stuart, FL Toyota Dealer needs to Cross Reference the Original Part # to the Replacement Part # to find the most economical exact match of the Part needed ?     The only accurate way to get the part number is from a Vin look up using a dealer parts department. Some online sources like McGeorge Toyota will also verify the proper part numbers based on your Vin if you ask. There is actually no part number on the master cylinder that is useful. There is a housing number which is common among multiple different configurations and part numbers.

    I assume you are over 150 thousand miles and or the date of delivery is over 10 years. Under 150 and 10 years qualifies for a free replacement assuming the system is providing the proper codes.

    Yes, Kind Sir... 156,000 "Of Course" they did many other "Re-Calls" when the Dash "Lit Up Like a Christmas Tree" and one of the other Dealers in the area said that there is a TSB (TechnicalServiceBulletin) on this part and they expect it to be recalled soon . . . But I am "Dead In t'H20" w/out forking out 3K at this point . . . ; [

    The Dealer we usually get Toyota Certified Used Parts from says that they have the
    2012 toyota PriusV-2 brake master cylinder Part# 4705047110 - for my VIN# JTDZN3EU9C3105757 but that New Part is $1,229.99 They have several TCUP's (Toyota Certified Used Parts) Brake Master Cylinder Parts but need the Info off of the Existing Part on my Prius that is at the shop waiting this ??part?? for the Swap-Out. Mechanic does not want to remove existing w/out replacement in hand . . . That I do not know which to order ?? How can I find out the 012 toyota PriusV-2 brake master cylinder Part markings on the Internet ? So, I will know which TCUP to order that is more economical than the 1.2K New part ? Any Words of Wisdom would be GREATLY Appreciated !! : ) Robin

    The part had been recalled several years ago, but coverage has expired under the one 150 10 year thing. it is doubtful there will be new coverage.

    Some have used used parts, but that's tricky primarily because you need to know the Vin of the donor vehicle and have it cross referenced to make sure that you have the proper part number.

    A Prius master cylinder is expensive because it is part of the brake by wire system. It has a brake ecu in it and it is the ABS and traction control controller. It also has interfaces to the brake pedal and the regen system. A separate part is the brake pump assembly. It provides hydraulic pressure for use by the brake by wire system.

    Finally installation of the system requires the Toyota scanner in most cases because of special brake flushing and calibration requirements. If you have an independent mechanic doing this, they must also know about these special scanner procedures.

    You are having a problem because someone is misunderstanding how these parts are assigned part numbers. It is not on the part!
