I have a parasitic drainage on battery due to this smart key module, which was identified by pulling each fuses while measuring amps (from 0.77A to 0.02A).

So I bought a used module like this for only $15 shipped:

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/313990159438?hash=item491b459c4e:g:DcgAAOSwuJJieTI~&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAA4PIb4UrP20LwVdbH5NMG1KZseKV7IOY6Ffc1FFQJQH%2FD7dKj1tPOlpNFraUR1%2FLTg55bSoxuxoQsRoVYAfqU5eDngGmnFx4PrtuicJm5qDF6Mi0Ot7HedspKWwyReFx82mccebOa2iV570E0HuWOk4co%2FD4b88Bu3oN2J2E7zWsFK1Q8L4ImprPeKQIuHhnYOuzUoU9nXIHwmrQr2FYP03tE9xAznv04zhGiEUItcR5jJrIP%2BXc7qLVsyTItYtosgdhsGQKc%2FzO9l0VYDtByj4Poj2yagolLHWy8qDNfKzD5%7Ctkp%3ABFBM0Nrh_I5h

Went to Toyota dealer, they tried but failed to re-program the module. They said without original keys, they can only program it to a NEW module ($1150), because this module can only program once. If you want to program to a used module without the original keys, they cannot even power the module.
It's possible that dealer just want to sell a new module, but it could also has some truth technically. I am not sure.

However the seller of this module told me that his technical guy has programed it before multiple times. I am waiting for his further comments, and will post it here.

Can you tell me which one is true, used module CAN or CANNOT be programmed to different keys? Please give me detailed technical info if you will.

I am in Chicago area, if you know someone or some dealer who can program the old module, please let me know.

    Some key info:
    2010 Prius II
    233000 miles
12V battery is a small tractor battery ($32 from Costco) but runs fine for over a year.
Car in good condition, no electrical issues before, no flood or water damage.

The Electrical Wiring Diagram (more info) shows that the Certification ECU (Smart Key ECU) is supplied through three fuses, ECU-B, ECU-B2, and IGN. Which one did you pull?

The ECU-B and IGN circuits both supply many other loads, and the ECU-B2 circuit also supplies the ID Code Box (which you really don’t want to have to replace, since it’s behind the air conditioner in the instrument panel). There could also be aftermarket installations, such as dealer-installed alarm system, on any of the three circuits.

Also, the smart key system is more active when a key is near the detection area, but this is supposed to stop after 10 minutes. Did you wait at least 10 minutes before making the measurements?
Both the dealer and the module seller are probably telling the truth, from their own points of view. The dealer has Toyota’s information and diagnostic tools, which apparently don’t work in this situation, but the seller or his associates may have other, unofficial methods.

If you do, give me a quote for keys and the module. Thanks!

    It’s ECU-B2.
Put all keys 50 ft away when I did the measurement.

OK, I went to a Toyota certified engineer's mechanic shop in Homer Glen, IL. That guy has a pretty hot Youtube Channel @TheCarCareNut, with more than half million subscribers. I had to wait 2 month for the appointment :)
He did give me some great advices:
    1. This car with 233K+ and still burning some oil is not worth putting $1000+ on electronics.
    2. Simply add a switch to disconnect the Smart key Module after parking, and reconnect it before starting the next time.

So here is my question: Which wire (pin) is the power supply for the module? Please see pictures of the physical module.
Also, if the smart key module is disconnected, will the remote still work? I guess when touch the door handle, door will no longer unlock automatically because that's smart key's function.

Thank you all for the advices, and hopefully this case will help other members with similar issues.

So I'm guessing this is the wired portion of the smart key function. Somewhere there's another box I think it's behind the passengers cup holder on the console that talks to your remote It has the megahertz and all that printed on a red label right on it It seems that this blue thing is what happens after the remote talks to the system or something along those lines because on that blue box if it were remote controlled or frequency control there would be that information on that label and there's nothing like that on there that I can see or I would think it would be because there's a couple other modules in the car that have frequencies printed on the modules I'm assuming that's the frequencies that they communicate on.?
