2007. 85k miles. Purchased a few months ago from a seller who put in a refurbished hybrid battery.

Bluedriver OBD reader shows P0A80 and P1121. Does the fact that these codes (“replace hybrid battery pack” and coolant control valve) came up at the same time mean anything?

I also have the Tonwon OBD reader that I use with Dr Prius. It shows P3000 and P1121. Why are the codes different depending on the reader?

First, I will have the mechanic who put in the refurbished battery address the battery. And then I can replace the coolant control valve myself, with OEM since I hope to keep this car for many more years. Is that a reasonable approach or is there something else I should consider?

    Much thanks!

Maybe isolate the coolant control valve problem first while it's in your driveway and then after you get that done maybe you could lift up the tray where your battery is located undo the six or whatever bolts and lift the case cover up and see how all the nuts and bus bars look refurbed or not this is the first place you want to look at on your battery to see if there's serious problems once the bus bars and nuts start to get frosted like your windshield literally that's what it'll look like The problems are right around the corner or are in the midst of happening.

Getting a new battery will mean about 10+ years of reliability vs what u have now; the first breakdown with potentially several more.

    GOOD LUCK!

Regarding your code question, there are 15-16 ecu's in a Gen2 Prius. Most scantools are not capable of communicating with all of them. Very few will tell you what ecu's they can talk to.

Some scantools (like Dr Prius) have "issues" with the Gen2 hybrid control and high voltage battery ecu's codes.

P3000 is set by the hybrid control & means, "hey, the HV Battery ecu says it has a problem". P0A80 means that the HVB ecu saw differences in battery block voltages that were "out of spec" (and Toyota says "replace the battery").

Might want to consider getting a more capable scantool. You can search for Techstream - either the legit version (more $$$) or "bootleg" (ie hacked) version. Also read the scantool app and device review thread stickied at the top of this forum.

If the installer will "do something" for the (likely) battery fault, that would be cheapest - but not necessarily the least expensive. A "rebuilt" battery might last 2-3 years, or 2-3 weeks. New is going to be the most reliable option.

So the coolant control valve is UNRELATED to the battery issue and I can address them separately?
