What did I do right?

I get the Check Hybrid System message on my dash and car won't run
I get a scanner and under Hybrid Control I get the code P0A0D which pointed me to the orange safety
interlock thing in the back. I took it out again and put in back in but this time I fully connected it by giving it a full sideways lock. I also cleared the codes using the scanner just to see what would happen
The car started but kept the Check Hybrid System message. I turned it off and on again and the Check Hybrid System message was gone.
I seems my car is working again but I have questions
Why did I get a dead car and an error message in the first place when the car worked the day before?
    One possible answer.
Something dislodged the orange connecter just a little and up to that point I did not know how important it was for it to be fully engaged for the car to run.
Why did the error message stay for a cycle and then disappear once the orange connector was fully engaged?
Is there still something wrong with the car?
    Thanks

Once the issue has been taken care of, it sometimes takes a few on/off cycles to clear the code/light.

Whenever it was disconnected last, for whatever reason, it likely was not pushed
back all the way, but enough to run the car. Over time, from the car vibrating while driving
it worked its way loose. It does click into position. You can hear it and feel it.
Then you know it's connected correctly.
