I had the Recall SSC 40L done yesterday. It took just over an hour and all seemed fine until I drove the car tonight. I couldn't figure out why I was seeing a reflection on the windshield at first. The dimmer switch was up all the way. I tried to adjust it and it didn't do anything. Needless to say, I am going back and having them fix the problem. Fortunately I am off for winter break and have the time to go back tomorrow.

    Anyone else seen this happen?

I have not noticed that...but it may be b/c it isn't happening, or it may be that I just didn't notice.

One thing to check, though, is if you're in "Day Mode" in you display settings.

Evan, what does Day Mode mean and where do I check it?

    Thanks.

If you drive with your lights on during the day the dash and MFD display will dim. You can hit the "Display" button on the top left of the MFD and bring up your display controls. One of the options available there or in a sub-menu is to turn on or off day mode. If it's turned "ON" the dash and MFD display will be at full brightness when the headlights are on even if you try to dim them with the dimmer control.

The day mode/night mode can be found in the display settings for the MFD (or some menu to that effect... it's been a while since I've driven my Prius ). I *think* if you have day mode on, then even when you use the dimmer switch, your dash and MFD stay on "day" settings (ie, the bright settings) instead of going to "night" settings (ie, the dark settings).

Sorry guys, I don't see any controls when I push display other than brightness or contrast. There does not seem to be a sub menu that I can find. Perhaps I don't know what I am doing. Won't be the last time.

It's hidden in there somewhere--I found it once when I was pushing buttons and exploring menus (I don't find navigating the buttons for the MFD/Nav very intuitive). Is there a settings menu hidden somewhere? The screen mode options will be its own screen, not just a banner across the top and bottom like the brightness/contrast. Freakin' not anywhere near a Priu at the moment. Just start smashing buttons :D.

The plug wasn't in all the way to the dimmer. It took about five minutes to get the car back once the service writer took the car. To his credit, he took the car back himself and had it done immediately.

Day mode on MFD doesn't affect dash light intensity. In order to see the Day Mode button, you have to be in Night Mode: tail or headlights on, dimmer not in full bright detent.

I once inadvertently had the MFD in day mode, and wondered why the screen colors/contrast weren't changing, though the backlight intensity was. Day Mode button on screen disappeared when the dash was in day (full brightness) mode.

I'm having this problem now, so the plug was just not in the switch itself?

That's what the tech said. It just wasn't plugged in all the way. Hope that helps.
