Whoopie... Took possession of my new Prius yesterday morning. I don't know who was more excited, me or my son. When I arrived at the dealership I went inside while he promptly roamed the car lot in search of our new car.

I am in awe. The car is so totally cool and sooo much fun to drive. My brother lives in San Francisco and called last night to say I was officially now a true "tree hugger." LOL At this point I think the greatest feature is the smart key system. No more searching for keys!! Just walk up to the car, get in and drive.

I still havn't completely looked into the navigation system yet but did notice on the way home that the car seemed a bit confused. It kept telling me to make turns in opposite directions to go home. When I pulled up to my house, instead of telling me to make a right into my driveway, it said to make a left. I don't think my neighbor would have appreciated me parking on their front lawn.

Now, can anyone recommend a phone/carrier that is compatable? Presently I have nextel. While I would like to stay with nextel, I really don't want to spend $200 for the i870 which seems to be the only phone they carry that's compatable with the Prius. My contract was up in October so basically I can switch to any carrier just not sure which has not only the better phone but also supplies good service. So far I'm leaning towards purchasing the Razr but still not completely certain.

Anyway, can't wait to chat with all the happy LI Prius owners and learn more about the new addition to my family. (not to mention all the mods, mods, mods...)

Truly looking forward to the December meet. See you soon. :)

WOW!! So happy for you, Mia! Can't wait to see it....the color sounds beautiful..I haven't seen any around here yet that color...

I have a RAZR and I have Cingular....Mine works just fine...the phone book download with Verizon, I hear, is a no-go. With the RAZR, Cingulair, once you get to the page where it asks you to "transfer data" you have to do it one number at a time...but it goes quickly once you start.

You have to highlight the number in the address book, hit address book menu, back up one to "send" hit "send" then hit "hands-free" phone to select the Prius. I have a BT headset, so have two handsfree systems.

When I wear the headset in the car and forget to shut it off, the headset stays on and the car's BT doesn't connect. As soon as I shut off the headset, the car's BT connects.

I haven't had any of the problems with noise or voice quality in the car....Occasionally, when a call "drops" the screen gets frozen in the "call active" position, and I actually have to shut off the car (I pull over, LOL) and then the call disconnects...In general, I love it.

I added voice tags for the 20 calls allowed, but don't use that feature when I drive since it is actually more steps to give the commands than it is to simply use Speed Dial which holds 17 numbers. YOu can use Speed Dial even while driving...very quick way to call.

Again...I hope I make the next meeting and get to meet you.

Happy driving. Can't help you with the nav system. Don't really drive much...so wouldn't really need it. Does your car park itself???

    Hi Terri,

Thanks for all the info regarding the cell phone. I think my daughter is actually buying me the razr for Christmas.

Seems as if parking itself is the only feature my Prius doesn't have but I really wouldn't want it anyway. I think I'd be too afraid of using it. From what I've read, that feature is only offered in Japan and not on any of the US models.

Thanks guys, see you all soon.

as to the nav. check to make sure the correct region is set, the unit is seeing the sat's ... but I did have something like this happen. the Sat Ant wire is not all one piece, but connected to a coupler under the dash.... Mine had come loose.

That is all I can think of that could be wrong,

Congrads on the the car... and no I am not a Tree Hugger... Geek/Nurd yes... I got it for all the toys... great MPG was just a plus....
