Combination Meters that stop at 299,999 miles, Who's affected and what you can do about it.

As you can see there is no TPMS light, and this is facelift becouse ,,Ready” is on the right side.

 

I upgraded my 2005 base IP cluster to a 2009 but you have to upgrade the other side LED panel too.

 

So yesterday my odometer stuck at 299 999. As you can see at my previous post I’ve bought a complete odometer from 2007 lift. This is EU version so it don’t have a second connector at odometer and my odometer doesn’t have TPMS light - I think in EU TPMS was an option to buy. After connection new odometer everything works just plug and play I have also add a 100uF capacitor to ,,new” cluster to prevent a blackout issue. I have job all done in about 4 hours with coffee brake at home and dashboard clean

 

Apparently there must be some way that pre-facelift odometers can go beyond 299,000. Any explanation or ideas how this was possible?

This limitation was addressed in the 2006 facelift Gen 2.

The usual way to 'fix' the problem in a 2004-2005 Gen 2 is to retrofit the light cluster and combination meter from a 2006-2009 in the 2004-2005. The only modification that is required is the TPMS LED need to be removed from the light cluster as TPMS was introduced in the 2006 facelift and if not removed stays illuminated.

 

@dolj yes, but the meter from the 2006 facelift has a different design. What you see in the video clearly is the pre-facelift meter, yet somehow it goes beyond 299,999. So apparently there is a way the old meters can be fixed as well.
