Check Gen 3 trans fluid level before drain

Before you take any plugs out spray the plug area off with carb cleaner so no dirt in the area can get in.

When i go through the trouble of lifting my G2 up that high to get to the trans I make good use of that time and service the ac ecoil under the dash.
I use Kool It from Amazon it comes with the hose kit it's a spray can of microbial cleaner for you ac system that you inject back up the ac drip hose it fills the ecoil with soapy foam and comes back out as liquid. Cleans the evaporator box under the dash.

Makes the car smell real nice and keeps the drip hose clear. First time use 2 cans. Last time I asked dealer charges $125.
It is a maintenance item that you didn't know about till your drip hose gets clogged..

Drip Hose is hard to find its very short and stubby comes out under the glove box area..

I also lube the shite out of the chassis but that's another discussuin

 

Nobody's dealing you cards, plenty of ways to get it level. Simplest with the front on ramps would be to jack up the rear a bit.

If it was sloping down front-to-rear your level's probably a bit low, but still within spec.

 

What do you all recommend for tranny fluid? I'd like to skip dealer and go to O'Reilly's, where I was able to get my Asian car coolant from as well.

 

Toyota WS Fluid. Nothing else is correct.
The cost is only a few dollars more for the fluid designed for the transmission.
Or transmission designed for that fluid. How ever you want to put it.

 

If your car is still under warranty I would stick with Toyota WS fluid. If not, I'm using Valvoline Maxlife Full Synthetic. Sometimes you can get it under $5 a quart at Walmart.

 

Toyota only gets completely sticky with one fluid: Toyota ATF WS, for the transaxle. They caution in owners manual that anything else may damage it.

Any quality synthetic ATF will be fine.
It's a very simple transaxle. It's just gears and bearings. There is no shifting or clutching.

Toyota has only one ATF for their entire fleet. Of course they recommend that.....

I've used Mobil 1 ATF and Redline D6.
No one can tell the difference of what brand you use.
I have an old thread on the subject with many oil analyses of what came out of the transaxles.
