My son has a 2008 Toyota Prius and he had his mechanic install a used transmission, the other one was grinding. The mechanic has everything installed, dash lights, come on, clicking noises, orange plug is locked in, hit button twice, just will not start. Any ideas? It ran before just transmission was bad. Thanks everyone.

Does the car ready does the green ready light come on can you shift into drive? The clicking is what you want that means the relays at the battery in the back are switching on and activating the high voltage circuit is the high voltage battery on the dash or MFD showing near empty?

Dash warning lights generally mean OBD2 codes being stored in the ECUs, are there OBD2 codes that you can post in this thread?

How many miles are on the vehicle?

As in total silence (aside from the clicks, dings, etc) or the ICE turns over but does not run/drive? HV battery original?

Hello everyone and I do appreciate all of the feedback, I need to add more information when posting a question, sorry about that. I just got back from my sons mechanic, it was the orange plug that he has said he had in correctly. I asked him several times and he assured me it was correct that is why I drove an hour to see what was going on. There is one other thing I cannot seem to find the problem while I was there and that is the p0AFA code. low hybrid battery voltage. The prius is running transmission seems to be functioning properly, have not driven but few feet since red triangle is on with this code. There we're no codes tripped prior to transmission install, drove the car in his garage, but now the red triangle with this code pops up. I appreciate everyone here on Prius Chat and thanks for all of your help.

When my generation too was bouncing around like that you could see it on the MFD I pulled the battery out and it was pretty dirty luckily all connections like to computers and plugs and that nonsense was all in good shape. But all the bus bars and nuts not so much replace the battery and everything was good until the accumulator and brake went out. But that was an uneventful fix everything is good.

If the harness is good, then clean up the nuts and bars with citric acid or vinegar and salt. Unlikely if the nuts/bars are the problem.

A new harness is around 60+ (shop around) : 8216547040 - Wire, frame, no. 2. Battery, electrical - Genuine Toyota Part

Check the HV battery ECU for corrosion on the socket pins, and if very bad then also check where the socket mounts to the PC board.
