Best way to properly install transmission input shaft seal ?

I removed a damaged seal , I cleaned surface well but want to put seal in properly without destroying it. I see it goes over a raised edge and centers around it . I was thinking of a deepwell socket near outer diameter of seal but the seal looks like the middle would seat on the ring also at same time.. is there a special tool needed ?
