2007 Prius Turned off won't power back on

    Hi!

    I'm hoping someone can help - this morning I was about to leave for work my vehicle turned on fine like it usually does. I rain the wipers quick to clear some snow - it was icier than I thought so I got out and grabbed my scraper to clean it away. When got back in I hit the brake pedal and the vehicle powered off...

    It won't restart, all I have for power are the door locks, and hazards, and when the key is in the car but not in the reader thing the immobilizer light flashes. It stops when I insert it into the slot...but still doesn't start or change anything other than the immobilizer light goes away.

    I have no other dash lights other than the door, and the flashing car with key - accessory doesn't work as well no orange or green light on the power button.

    I've tried:
    • disconnecting the battery for 30 seconds
    • jumping the car
    • both key fobs
    I do hear a pump of some sort under the hood running occasionally.

    Thoughts?

    It was the AM2 fuse - I replaced the inverter coolant pump 7 months ago...replace it again?

    Many aftermarket pumps have been known to fail prematurely, was it replaced with a new OEM pump from the dealership?

    I would wait for the fuse to blow again before worrying about replacing inverter pump. Also put your 12v battery on a charger to make sure it's fully charged.

    It was not - it was replaced with the $25 version off Amazon! I have the OEM on order!

    The pump is the most likely reason for that fuse to pop. I have done that pump on several Gen2 over the past few years. Always installed a new pump from my Toyota dealer. Have not had any complaints.

    The OE part seems to be the most reliable. If you don't mind the increased likelihood of having the car strand you on the side of the road, then you can save a few dollars by using an aftermarket pump (or a possibly counterfeit "OE" one from the web)

    yeah...I'm going OE this time - it's ordered! Looking back the deal was too good to be true at $25...lol

    You're very fortunate the fuse opened while the car was in the driveway.
    The AM2 fuse opening while driving down the highway leads to several moments of seat pinching and perhaps being stuck on the side of the road.
    You want to avoid that thrill ride at all costs and I wouldn't take a chance.

    The OEM pump is around $100 from an online Toyota parts dealer your $25 Amazon is a fake pos which is why it only lasted 7 months which is pretty good for a Chinese pump.
