    Hey fellow Prius peeps!

I need a new windscreen for my 2015. I received a quote from the local windscreen repair facility "Mr Windshield" for $175, out the door. Safelite wants to charge me $225 to come to my location and replace it.

My question IS: What did you pay? Is $175 for a quality windscreen a good price?

    Cheerio!

I bought the $175 thing like you're talking about and minus tinted and has the dots as far as I can tell it's made by a major glass manufacturer I have to go out and look at the name but I've seen it on other cars we have a 13 persona A matter of fact I just had my '09 Prius done for like the same money again tinted with the dots I don't think the safe light or even the Toyota dealer's glass will be much better but what do I know about glass I stood out there and looked at the windshields stacked in the rack from a bunch of different manufacturers and they pretty much seem to be the same and have cross-reference numbers that cross all different manufacturers and all of that so. Who knows

Insurance was so gracious to offer to pay for the $175 windscreen in exchange for a $500 glass deductible :confused:

I asked about the difference in price to change the deductible to $0 (which they have NEVER offered me before; I was not even aware I had a separate "glass deductible" with AAA) resulted in a great increase in premium, that was not even worth it. I could purchase several windscreens at $175 for their "offer".

When my 2012 Prius-C's windshield cracked in 2012 (a few months old), the independent repairman had to order an OEM part because no after-market replacement was available. The total cost was over $1100. A few years later, the windshield cracked again, and he replaced it for $300+ with an after-market part. According to him, the Toyota brand is very similar to the after-market ones in terms of quality, except the Toyota logo at the corner. He said Toyota paid for around $50 (whole sale price) while selling for about $1000 a piece.
