I just noticed a soaked cargo mat and some stuff that I had in the cargo area was also wet. It was on the drivers side in the area where the mat gets wider

I am familiar with the body seam issue but this must have been dripping from the hatch. Is that a thing? Easy repair?

there was also some water in the area by the spare. Could that have come from the same leak?

It's usually tree dirt ground up leaves that sort of mess sometimes it gets so thick in the body portion of the car I've seen it where the tree gunk is level with the gasket all the way around down to the tail lights because people don't clean that crap It's disgusting I water that area anytime I have the hose on all around the body seems of the car till it runs clear matter of fact mine never runs brown they do when I buy the car and once I get all that stuff cleaned out never again You need to look at your hybrid battery back there that water's dripping right on top of it you'll see it on top of the case they'll be rusting white marks Yes it can get into the cover water will get anywhere I've seen rusted internal bottoms of the battery case not from battery leakage either from water.

The area around the seal is pretty clean. I guess on this Prius I never did the body seal fix. Noticed the battery was in water so that looks like a seam issue

still a little baffled by the water on the mat on the drivers side.

one thing at a time I guess

That was most likely overflow from the battery well as that was full of water

Similar to what happened with my 2008 Prius. Water from the heavy rains we've had this year dripped down to the 12V battery, water pooled in the spare tire area...so I was scheduled for a body shop to pinpoint where in the hatch area the water was getting through...but at this stage decided I had been spending too much $$$ fixing the car, so I sold it. I had to wait until April for the body shop to have time in their schedule to see the car and I didn't want to go through with it.
I did buy a new waterproof car cover for the 2008 Prius and that did a good job keeping the water out after I replaced the 12 V battery. So in the meantime, $98 is a good investment in a car cover until you diagnose your leak problem.
