I just bought the 2008 Prius base. I already love it on my first day in. I plugged my Alexa auto into the aux port and am able to access all my Apple Music on my iPhone via Bluetooth. I’m over the moon about this as I was considering canceling the awesome 6 cd system. Long story short, I just loaded 6 cds: Bad Company, Fleetwood Mac, Bob Marley, Carly Simon, PF DARK SIDE OF THE MOON and lou reed. This is such a fantastic life choice I made with this second gen Prius! Yes!

Interesting first post. Welcome to the forum!

Sadly newer cars are dropping the aux port just like smartphones. I'm not sure about newer Toyotas though. We do use the aux port in the Avalon since the Bluetooth has stopped working again even after being fixed by the dealership.

I just signed up to Apple Music for the first time in my life just yesterday. It's pretty neat, but so far haven't been able to find all the songs I really wanted to have downloaded for on-the-go.

Aux ports, in some instances have given way to 120v/house power type plug access in cars. This way as long as you have an adapter - regardless of what type of low power device you have - you'll still be good to go. Who knows. Maybe in the not too far distant future they will even do away with USB connectors since more & more phones can charge via their built-in Wireless chargers.
Your CD selection sounds great! Now all you need is to add some Ramones & The Specials

But the Aux port is dying along with AM radio. Personally I hate the loss of customizability. If I want to add an old fashioned tube AM radio, for an example, I should be allowed to add an old fashioned tube AM radio.

When the car comes with no AM radio, no aux 3.5mm jack port, only a fixed, non customizable infotainment tablet with FM radio, cellular conection and a Bluetooth conection that will only connect to a smartphone, but not to a Bluetooth transmitter (like in Teslas) then the only way now to hook up my gadget is to use an FM transmitter, until the kill FM radio in cars too.

Once they kill FM too then the only way to hear something over your car's speakers will be via hacking into the actual speaker wires and adding your own amplifier with it's own set of connections to connect your devices to it.
