    I know there's many on Fleabay that do this repair, but I just don't trust them. Both my 2004 and 2005 need the repair. I do the headlight high beam, brake paddle, and E lights to get the instrument panel to light up, but it's getting old doing that.

    If you're talking about the speedometer gas gauge and the transmission position heads up display Texas hybrid batteries does that you send it down to him or he'll give you a swap out price right online I think I think it's $170 or something you send them your old one or something along those lines many here have done it and many here have had it go bad again I think too. But I wouldn't swear it all that I went round and round with this on my 2009 I just wound up getting a whole heads up display out of the 84,000 mi perfect condition car with a bad battery and title paperwork problems I stripped that car and everything in it look like a little old lady had never touched it even the seats.

    not sure what your issue is but older Prius has issues with the instrument cluster going dark. There's a capacitor that needs replacement, once that replaced everything will be back to normal. I think I bought the whole set of capacitors in Amazon for $10, I still have lots of them left.

    We do.

    -It's $150 + $75 core deposit. We program and ship you a replacement meter ready to go in the car. Shipping is free and we provide pre paid shipping for the return of the old part. Once we get the old one back the $75 is refunded. Very easy process.

    Yes, we have helped lots of PriusChat members with replacement combination meters. We give PC discounts if you let us know you're a member.

    Not if it came from us. All of our meters come with lifetime warranties. Out of 7,000+ sold we've only had a couple of issues and those were related to damage during shipping or installation.

    @Tombukt2 Thanks for the recommendation.

    No I meant some people that have tried this repair themselves I've read where some has got it to work for a minute and then bam it starts acting up again Not sure what's wrong but whatever it's not working as the point and I've had the same problem I got a display out of a car from a little old lady with 64,000 mi on it that the lady barely ever sat in The display works great but sometimes still today I'll push the button the car will start up and be ready to drive but the display won't be on. I just hit the button to turn it off and hit the start button again and the display is on I don't know whether this is a glitch with my remote or whether this low mileage display is starting to act up but I don't think so this car was kept in a temperature controlled garage in the southeast United States and was generally driven after 3:00 in the afternoon mostly bye by little old people that had no butts did no damage to the interior the car was mint had a brand new hybrid battery installed in it not a scratch on it except somebody told them the engine went bad or something and they junk the car. I stripped it because it was missing two doors or I would have kept the chassis and run it.

    Do a Google search for TV or Electronics repair in Rocky Top, TN
    Many come up.
    Anyone in a repair shop can swap out the bad capacitor in five minutes.

    I have a question for you if you can help. I have my gauge cluster out. It intermittently works.. the capacitor that goes bad is just fine.. what else could it be?

    I've had the same problem two or three different clusters same 09 vehicle I don't necessarily agree with this capacitor business or it is the capacitor business and something else and the something else I don't think is a board issue on the heads up display or the speedometer whatever you want to call it. But I haven't had time to sit and play with this but it seems to me like there is maybe a dual power feed to the display 12 volts comes in one of the white plugs that connect to the display right under the dash and 12 volts come in the second plug If one of those 12 volt signals is missing the display doesn't fire or something similar to this because after I put in a known working display from another vehicle that I have driven or observed for days working in the other vehicle not mine and I lift up that display assembly only from the same series of vehicle the vehicles are a couple of months difference literally in production date not early versus late generation 2 or any of that nonsense It's the correct part when I put this observed working good part in my vehicle it works flawlessly but every so often on boot up I'll have no display nothing car drives perfectly regenerative breaking is working the car is fine just a blank speedometer and that whole display sometimes just turning the car off right there in the parking lot in my house and pushing the button again the display immediately boots up and comes on and stays on the rest of the day It never cuts off while I'm using the car this is always turning the car on only. So I have real trouble believing that all this is just a capacitor that's starting to go bad in the throes of going bad or completely gone bad and should not work until it's replaced All of mine even the one that I would send out to have the capacitor replaced still boot back up at some point generally the one I'm working with that caused me to change this would go out sometime for a few days I didn't care I knew how much gas I had in the vehicle so I did this for 2 years playing around doing whatever I just never got to the point of the redundant 12 volt signal but I believe something like that is going on but I have no basis to prove it I really don't care to prove it maybe somebody else will get on it that spends all their time playing with these vehicles but it seems to me something like that is going on something redundant that's needed that's not happening sometimes.
