So I was planning on installing a kill switch for the fuel pump and thought it might be better to find the wire to the fuel pump on the inside, opposite to the relay under the bonnet. Better than removing the rear seats and digging through to find it near the source. Does anyone know what color wire I am looking for near my glove compartment? I honestly have tried searching everywhere. Kind of had to make an account to post a thread here.

Why are you doing that the car has an immobilizer?

Impossible to hot wire. Unless someone has access to your car with the fob in that case I would not go anywhere near the fuel pump I would kill the ignition.

For the ignition I would find a same size fuse as the ignition fuse only with a blown filament and solder 2 wires across it. One on each end of the fuse than connect a switch to those wires.

No wires or harness cut want to restore it just plug a good fuse back in.

Just don't ever try to start it because it will throw a code that you will need an obd device to clear it.

It wont hurt anything it will just throw an engine wont start code. Which may be a good thing if for instance you have a teenager that's driving your car will your sleeping (like I did lol). If he goes to start it the car wont start and it will throw a code. You get in next morning and see the code he's busted.

Btw this no engine start code will be thrown no matter how you disable the car gas or otherwise. No matter how the engine is disabled if the engine cant start when you try to make the car ready it will throw a code.

or just buy a club lol.....

Without boring you with unnecessary details, it is not a physical kill switch and has 2 methods of disabling the vehicle available. Starter motor and fuel pump. Prius being a parallel hybrid, I thought instead of the starter motor I can wire one to the immobilizer and the second to the fuel pump. Can you explain why you would immediately rule out the fuel pump? And yes let's say someone has access to my fob. What other methods would you recommend then? Thanks for your reply!

I think what you are saying is you already have some kind of theft prevention gizmo and it has two outputs, and you're looking for a good place to connect the one that (in some other car) would go to the starter.

So I guess there's nothing that makes the fuel pump a bad idea for that. You might just have to look closely at what kind of output your gizmo has (high going? low going? dry contact?) and take a look at the car's wiring diagram:

Toyota Service Information and Where To Find It | PriusChat

and figure out how you want to interface the two.

Umm... ok? What part of "what color is the fuel pump wire?" hard to understand? If you dont know the color, no problem, you can point me to a credible source I can research. If you dont know that either then dont worry about it lol

Without boring you with necessary details... The Prius is not a conventional design. It's a tightly integrated system. It has no starter motor. If that's news to you, I suggest that you discontinue your efforts. It is also a modern design, which means that it runs tests on the fuel system after you park the car. Mess with that and you might fail your next emissions test. You will also have a CIL glaring at you every day.

The last time someone made a similar inquiry they were trying to steal a car and needed to defeat the aftermarket kill switch. I'd give it up if I were you. The Prius is seldom hotwired in most areas. It's much more likely to have it's cat ripped off while sitting in the owner's driveway.

It seemed to me that the OP realizes the car hasn't got a starter, and just has an anti-theft gizmo with an output that says "connect this to your starter" and wonders about another useful way to connect it.

The car does a test of the evaporative emission control system a few hours after parking (if Gen 4 is like Gen 3, which I have), but not one that involves the fuel pump.

My mistake. I thought that the test included pressurizing the fuel line.

Damn what's with the passive-aggressive responses? I just wanted to install this kill switch that has 2 pre-programmed switches literally labeled "starter motor" and "fuel pump". What on earth led you to believe I am stealing a car and I would sit around posting on some forum? I just didn't want the post to be 5 paragraphs long including random details that would just have people "TL;DR". Do you really wanna hear why my dad told me to install it. Or that a friend of a friend had a car stolen which lead me to want to add an added security measure? Sheesh, this forum is toxic. I am just gonna pay some guy to install it.

You might give the forum more of a chance. As toxic internet forums go, we might be less so than many.

Sometimes it's kind of down to the luck of what your first question happens to be and who happens to answer first.

Yea sorry I shouldn't generalize. After all, I was able to install my Avest side mirror signal LED lights on my Prius by myself all thanks to a guide on this forum.
