I have attached a video here of what it sounds like, but I have a 2008 prius, 216k miles, that recently just started making a fluttering noise (almost sounds like plastic flapping in the wind at high speeds) when accelerating quickly. If I keep the accelerator under 75% or so, it doesn't happen, but if I punch it, you hear this noise even at low speeds, at high RPM. Anyone else experience something like this?

Yeah and Gen 2 rarely and gen 3 a lot plastic flapping or stuff could have fallen down into your cowl and dropped into your fan box If you drop the glove box it's just a squeeze in a let it hang you'll see the tray that holds the cabin air filter squeeze and slide it out and the leaves and all will be laying right on top now take your Shop-Vac with the crevice tool which is the narrow thin tool and stick it in that slot and try to suck up everything You can clean the filter by knocking and sucking on it or put in a new one see if it stops all the nonsense usually a leaf drops inside of the squirrel cage fan that blows the heat and cold air many time sticking your crevice tool in there or the computer cleaning tools will get that stuff out

Did you solve this? Mine just started doing this today going up a hill on the interstate. Seems to be exactly the same thing.

Yeah I'm interested in the op guys outcome.. that sounds like the first video of the guy in Connecticut his car sounds like it's just starting to get really loose I mean he's also driving like he's in the fast and the furious it sounds like but I don't listen to a lot of these cars on phone microphone videos but mine doesn't none of mine do any of that accelerating relatively hard not at all so it sounds like things are getting loose I don't know 3000 RPM plus or whatever is going on in the video the first one I would think in a generation too this will be easy to locate with a mechanic stethoscope and somebody sitting in the car to step on the gas while you're standing in front of the car with the hood up with the car not under transmission load you should be able to make that same rattling noise that almost half the RPM with the transmission engaged in the car moving or up on jack stands and spending the wheels in place It doesn't sound like other componentry in the car it sounds like the engine's rattling which at the mileage you have is quite possible for not highly well maintained car and then people who want to drive like they might be playing a video game. These cars take a very good beating when owned by certain people If you take care of them they can take that beating pretty well but if you keep wailing on them past $235,000 miles and what have you then you may run into these kind of things but it's expected then in any other vehicle that would have failed and half this time that's pretty much the reality.
