Colors

    I have a 2008 Prius, with 240,000 miles on it, and have started looking at used 2018-2020 Prius Primes. I can’t find one in the Blue Magnetism color anywhere near me, in order to see the color in person. Can anyone compare it to the Electric Storm Blue color? Is it similar? I’m also considering the red, which, depending on the year is either Hypersonic Red or Supersonic Red. They reds actually look the same to me.

    Blue Magnetism has a bit of green in the colour compared to Electric Storm.

    Hypersonic and Supersonic red look the same unless you put them side-by-side. Supersonic is brighter red. Hypersonic is slightly deeper. They’ll differences are subtle.

    Yes, the colors in the photos I posted there are pretty accurate in the given lighting conditions, which is just before dusk.

    However, Blue Magnetism is a very dynamic color that greatly varies with the intensity and color temperature of the ambient light. With intense lighting, it appears lighter and more greenish. Under sunlight it is very close to a cyan. In darker light it is more bluish. White (high-color-temperature) artificial light makes it appear more bluish.

    I should also note that Blue Magnetism is not a solid color as some people think. It has small metal flakes in it. However, these metal flakes are much smaller than in the metallic-branded colors offered by Toyota, such as Classic Silver Metallic etc.

    Wifey clipped a trash can and broke off the Supersonic Red, did a little housing damage.
    Thanks for the info in this thread.
    I can do an easy fix.
    The only challenge is matching the Supersonic red cap, can’t find availability.
    However I do find Emotion Red, so may use that.

    They are the same. Supersonic is US description Emotional is Europe and maybe other locations as well. I believe Hypersonic is the s/a Supersonic as well.

    Check the unique color codes to be sure. I think the hypersonic red and supersonic red are different.

    Also, the touch-up paint never color-matches.

    My color is 3U5
    I found a red mirror cap with 3U5, but described as Emotion Red.
    So probably go with that.

    Hypersonic and Supersonic are slightly different. Supersonic is redder and brighter than Hypersonic; difficult to discern unless they’re parked next to each other.

    Hypersonic is Emotional but Supersonic is Emotional 2.0.

    If ends up not matching, which can happen with different paint lots and levels of sun exposure to the paint, wrapping the mirrors with vinyl is an option.
