just an update. Turns out it does have the same manual cut-off switch as Gen4 and 2012 Euro/UK version - my bad I sucko_O
fwiw, the purpose of manual turning-off is to put a child on the front passenger seat, at least that's the rule in Norway (I assume in EU also).
Of course when an adult is seated, the airbag warning should always be turned on..

Considering where they chose to locate that switch, I think I could easily have driven a car for 13 years without noticing it.

Unless there had been some need to take the dash apart (like when I added the auto headlight wiring). Then I would have said "oh look, what's this switch here?"

    My mistake.
I didn't notice that the thread had taken a turn.
    Sorry.

I'm glad you found it, and thanks for letting us know it is there. Sometimes we need reminders that cars outside the North American or even U.S. markets have different features than ours.

As Chapman already mentioned, they certainly made it very unobtrusive. If you bought it as a used car, without all the original documentation and removable warning labels, I can certainly understand how it was missed. Even if you got it new, that was a very long time to have to remember about something so well hidden.

Thanks again, this forum is amazing. Actually we plan to change our car to a Volvo (yeah, solid for Nordic winter) later this year but I am afraid we won't be able to find such a forum.. ;)
