Latest update: new clock spring got the steering wheel buttons working. I was able to get the AC codes from the steering wheel technique.

    23 and 76 came up.

B1423 is set if the refrigerant pressure is out of range (below 28 psi or over 455 psi), or if there is an open in the wiring to the pressure switch. There are some easy guesses why, and also four pages of troubleshooting ideas in the repair manual.

B1476 means "motor's rotation load while the compressor is operating is too great or too small", with trouble areas to check including the amount of refrigerant, the cooling fan circuit, or the compressor itself. Two pages of troubleshooting.

Well, my friends, I’ve got cold air again!

After a slight lapse in judgement where I accidentally evacuated the refrigerant, I proceeded to replace the compressor with the used unit I got from the junkyard ‘09. I also swapped the pressure switch. I then pulled a vacuum on it and added the proper oil (had to guess there, due to the new compressor having no oil in it at all that I could tell). Then I charged it with about 550 grams of refrigerant and it kicked on and out came cold air!
