My friend owns a 2006 Pruis standard model. On page 306 of his owners manual there is the following statment "An aux adapter is installed in the rear console box. By inserting a mini plug into the aux adapter, you can listen to music from a portable audio device through the vehicle's speaker system." The only electrical outlet in the rear console box is a standard 12Volt "lighter" fitting. Is the aux fitting refered to part of an upgrade or is it omitted on North American models? Any info would be appreciated.

The AUX input is a sub-mini phono jack right next to the power outlet inside the console compartment. When the system detects a signal on this input, the input is activated in the string of inputs when press the CD button, or, I believe the mode button on the steering wheel.

I think the aux input only comes with package #3 and above, not the base model.

    Hey, my first post!

But yeah, sadly, it's lacking on the base model, which is what I have.

Still ... it'd be nice to have. If anyone has info on how to mod in my own aux ports without having to resort to an FM transmitter I'd be ever so happy. :)

Items such as the AuxBox should work. Try this thread for some options.
